We had a lovely stay in the Hare and Hounds. The room is charming and has recently been redecorated. It's very tastefully decorated, and the bathroom was very clean and spacious. The pub is also very nice, with a contemporary feel. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in the pub, and we found both excellent. Staff is friendly, the service was good, and I would say both accommodation and food are very good value for money. The location is good, with parking at the front. We also found some nice paths to walk our dogs in the surroundings. The dog friendliness is very much appreciated by us dog owners! A big thank you to the team in the Hare and Hounds for their kindness, and warm and welcoming service.

I didn't stay in Preston - I changed from one bus to another on the way back via the city, as I live in Southport. I've nothing to add on Preston - the place I visited specifically was Lancaster, before I stopped at Barton Manor on the way back.

Lytham St Annes is a wonderful place.

Lytham St Annes is a wonderful place. Lots of good restaurants and bars and a lovely high street with lots of independent traders. Really enjoyed it. Whilst there is not a beach at Lytham, there is a promenade, Lowther Gardens, Fairhaven Lake and lots more to walk around and view. Just lovely.

Loads to do if you've got plenty of money. Very historic.

Loads to do if you've got plenty of money. Very historic. Castle is a tour guide only which put us off. City museum is £8pa. Restaurants are all super expensive. There are no cheapy cafes to get breakfast or toast. Mobile data performance is dreadful, very poor. Loads of good pubs though. Okay for a short break. Any longer and you'll be bankrupt.

Free parking on the seafront if you can find a space.

Free parking on the seafront if you can find a space. Watch the times though on the side streets as it's not always obvious what the limits are (as we found out). Just about every shop you think you might ever need (and some you didn't think you needed!) seems to be available in the side streets off the seafront - well worth an explore. And of course no visit is complete without a piccie with Eric :)

I liked it because the views are stunning and that it was a running farm. What, in my opinion, was the hard pillows. I used the bath towels as pillows. I think there should be a choice of hard or soft pillows.

Ormskirk is like every other market town in the UK these days. A splattering of closed shop units & lower end chain & independent stores. Pleasant enough pedestrianised central area but nothing really to recommend it. We stayed in this area because we wanted to visit Solo restaurant in nearby Aughton, which was an absolutely brilliant fine dining experience.
