We loved St Andrews, although we were only there because we were attending a wedding. It felt safe, very friendly, upmarket, lots of lovely shops, restaurants, bars, cafes. Great walks to the beach and the golf course from the town centre. Very interesting old town with lots of history too.

Dunfermline Abbey - resting place of Robert the Bruce is well worth a visit. So is the Carnegie museum - birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, once the world's richest man, and a champion of philanthropy and world peace. Pittencrieff park is lovely for a walk on a misty morning. It's a lovely place to stay.

Unfortunately Kirkcaldy is like many UK towns in that the main shopping street is a bit dilapidated with many empty shops. The town as a whole has many attractions from museums to recreational facilities and is still well worth a visit. It is also a good area to stay in as central for a Fife visit.

Room very comfortable and facilities of high standard. The staff were extremely helpful. View of bridge made our stay but traffic noise was constant and may be a problem for light sleepers. The bedroom was far too bright at night. Light under desk and also by the door(probably fire escape regulations and not hotels fault).

Leven is on the train line now, about an hour from Edinburgh. It's a bit of a one-horse town with only 1 restaurant open after 8pm, apart from a 60s style steak-house. If you're vegetarian, vegan, or lactose intolerant you're going to have problems eating in the evening.
