It was a lovely, quiet location with plenty to do. We were greeted by chloe the dog on arrival and had a brief tour of the farm. The accommodation was clean and cosy and the perfect size for a couple. The added little welcome pack (milk in the fridge and a basket of snacks) really made it. We I wouldn't hesitate to visit again :)

We stayed New Years Eve. We had booked a room and advised we were vegan. We had the most fantastic meal, so many courses, such great flavours. The chef asked what sort of food we liked in advance and the meal was superb. We will be back. The staff team were attentive and very nice. We felt well looked after.

Excellent location – right across from the bus stop and walking trails. Perfect for a short stay or a rest stop. The room is very clean and tidy, with great lighting and ventilation. The bathroom is spacious, and the bed is super comfortable.

Friendly staff, lovely clean spacious and comfortable room. Lovely restaurant meal that was able to cater to both gluten and dairy free requirements, which we have struggled to find elsewhere on our trip.

We enjoyed our visit to the beautiful serene Buckfast Abbey and the Christmas Fair.
The location of the Inn alongside the River Dart is spoilt by the close proximity of both the Totnes Road and the Devon Expressway. Its facilities are poor with a hot, dry atmosphere which, alongside the road noise, we found made sleeping uncomfortable.

The staff were very helpful and lovely to us, we would have stayed longer but the weather was appalling 09/12/25 so could not walk in the garden the room was good, bed comfortable. Love the quietness at this time of year, which is what we wanted. Was a bit disappointed with the afternoon tea. It’s better in the summer menu with its verity of food choices. So will come back letter in the new year. We have recommended it to others.

Small country town with character. an excellent starting point for a holiday in Devon, Dartmoor on the doorstep and other parts of Devon not too far away. In our one overnight stay we got unsolicited help from a young lad and an older man ... a friendly place! Great meal at the Union Inn.

Apartment is just what you could ask for, stocked with full amenities. Walking distance to Haytor, with a view of Haytor as well since the apartment faces west. Excellent location for exploring the moors.

We visited Lydford specifically for the gorge. The Whitelady waterfall was lovely but a very long steep trek for just one waterfall. The Devils Cauldren was the highlight. A shorter, but more tricky, walk. Amazing sheer sides with a roaring river in the bottom. Steps clinging to the sheer sides with just a single hand rail to hang on to. No dogs or children allowed in the more hazardous bits. I was alternately amazed and terrified.

South Brent village is in a good location if you wish to...
South Brent village is in a good location if you wish to visit the other local towns such as Totnes, Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, as all easily accessible via the A38.
The village now lacks a selection of places to eat in the evenings but there are a number of good venues within a short drive.

I stayed at Hexworthy and had no car so can't really comment on surrounding attractions, but there were a variety of beautiful walks by brooks and rivers and over the moors. The walk around Venford Reservoir was lovely too.

Ashburton is a charming little town in a beautiful setting, full of character and plenty of independent shops. From jewellery and antique stores to cake and coffee shops, there’s lots to explore. The locals were incredibly friendly, and even the local Spar and Co-op stayed open quite late, which was really convenient.

We really appreciated the helpful and friendly staff. The warm atmosphere and the peaceful and pretty location. Plenty of long countryside walks from the hotel without needing the car. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable.

I really enjoyed visiting the Dartmoor Prison visitors centre. An unexpected treat.
I was lucky with the weather, mainly blue skies and fluffy clouds. Fog and rain came and went quickly. It's Dartmoor after all. It's very central for visiting the moors and the seaside. I liked it. There's a visitors centre there for advice re where to go. Local pride is evident.
