Lovely hotel, very easy to locate and plenty of parking. The pool and leisure facilities are very good and the restaurant provided delicious food, really enjoyable. Room was large and beds very comfortable. Staff were a delight and very helpful. Close to the Railway station which we needed the next day so great location and we were able to walk to the town. A quaint little Georgian town on the edge of the Lake...

A quaint little Georgian town on the edge of the Lake District, with a scenic harbour. The Rum Story & Jefferson's Shop is a must see and The Beacon Museum is definitely worth a visit. You can walk on the pier all the way to the end, be careful in bad weather, the block floor is not even. Lots of nice buildings around, many have seen better days but worth a walk around the town. The courtyard and gardens at the little church on Lowther Street are very scenic. The waters in the Queens Dock are an orange colour from the iron leaking in, certainly makes it unique and memorable (investigations into resolving it are underway). The Former Wellington Pit site gives a great view over the town. Lots of local pubs around, I must give a special mention to The Vagabond bar / restaurant, probably the best pizzas we've ever tasted anywhere.
