We had a lovely 1 night stay at the pub as a stopover. Beautiful Oxfordshire style building. After long drive to UK, staff & management were very helpful, flexible & welcoming about our arrival time due to UK traffic delays. Recently refurbished traditional style rooms to a high standard. & Extremely comfortable rooms & beds with modern well equipped bathrooms. Tasty pub food in evening & great quality English breakfast following morning. Sufficient parking available out front of building

Loved the place. Just right behind the touristy part of Bourton on the water. Easy for us to hop in and out of hotel with a toddler whose moods we can't predict. Fantastic service and my toddler loved the housedog Burty! Breakfast was also great. Small lil touches like gifting of a rubber ducky to my toddler which she cherishes so much. Loved it!

We had an amazing stay. The hotel was very central to all we wanted to see, gardens, castles, towns, Oxford and other sites. The room was huge with a very nice big comfortable bed. All the amenities were available in the room from coffee machine, kettle, bar fridge etc. The bathroom was great and almost bigger than the room itself (bathtub and shower). All was very clean. Thank you for a super stay.

FAQs about hotels in Cotswolds

The Quaint Heart of England

One of England’s most quaint areas, the Cotswolds are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with rolling hills interspersed by picturesque villages with limestone buildings.

From Cirencester to Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold to Stroud, the laidback lifestyle makes this area a great choice for an escape to the country. Booking.com has some fabulous accommodation and, of our range of Cotswolds hotels, luxury and budget alternatives are covered in equal measure.

The largest place is Cheltenham, a wonderful Regency spa town. Neighbouring Gloucester has some well-preserved medieval buildings and an impressive cathedral. Some of the most photographed medieval Cotswolds sights are the Arlington Row almshouses in Bibury. To the east beautiful Burford has a high street going up a hill, Burford Priory country house and the large Cotswolds Wildlife Park just south.

More feathered friends are found in Birdland Park at Bourton-on-the-Water, a lovely village with low bridges spanning its river. Forming a triangle with it are Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton, whose former mill and almshouses are worth a look. Broadway to the north-west has a main street in the shade of hills, one of which has a tower from where it’s said you can see 13 English counties!

Wherever you decide to stay, check Booking.com for great Cotswold hotel deals.

Lovely town with vibrant cafes and shops.

Lovely town with vibrant cafes and shops. We went to the Everyman cinema and annual fireworks at the racecourse. There seem to be regular festivals and events and of course it has a university which gives it a younger outlook. The architecture, as a spa town, is very grand and there are lots of parks and green spaces.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.

Broadway is a lovely location for a short getaway as well as a base for a longer trip around the area. Plenty of lovely shops to browse in. It does get quite crowded on the weekends and if you are dining, reservations are a must. All the major restaurants offer easy online booking for table. A pretty village that still maintains a real life pace of life.

Moreton-in-Marsh is a truly charming village with such a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. The people are incredibly kind and friendly, always ready to smile or help. Walking through its streets feels like stepping back in time — every corner has that classic Cotswolds beauty.
