- From US$105.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 140 reviewsThe hotel is easy to find with ample free parking on the street at the front (the hotel does have a small car park but the spaces are very tight and the entrance/exit is very narrow). The owners are lovely and speak reasonable English. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable but a the decor is a little tired. Our room was exceptionally hot but that wasn’t the the fault of the hotel, we just happened to stay on one of the hottest days of the year. The food in the restaurant is very good and reasonably priced.Guest review byMichelleUnited Kingdom
- From US$103.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 302 reviewsWe had a suite for the week - perfect! Lots of light, windows facing two directions, comfortable sofa, big screen TV, sound proof windows, black out curtains. Close to a bakery. The owners are wonderful- we forgot the HDMI cable to connect the Nintendo switch to the TV and one magically appeared the next day while we were out exploring. Thanks!Guest review byCharlesFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 216 reviewsIt is a very basic place, but unless you expect 24h room service and a reception desk to help you this is a perfect place to stay and explore the beautiful area. There is a big kitchen available with everything you need to prepare you meals and the rooms are big and rustic. The value for money here is simply great.Guest review byMaJo69France

We liked the mountains and the area in general.
We liked the mountains and the area in general. We found the heatwave curtailed our hiking plans. We found the local people very friendly but we would have appreciated more restaurants. They all seemed to be booked with guests staying in the hotel being given priority and there wasn't a huge choice elsewhere. The castle in Peistels is well worth a visit and the lake area too( St Etienne Cantalès). Salers and puy Griou puy Mary, les gorges du pas de Cere. We were impressed by the variety of local dishes and recipes.Guest review byMarie-ClaireFrance - 10.0

a great base for walking in the Cantal Volcanic mountains; a good train connection, good shops and cafes, and more than one excellent bakery, especially Au Delices Montagnards and Du Pain et des Jeux (organic); there is a good supermarket, and a market on Fridays. walking routes start from the town, and get quickly into varied and interesting countryside including forests, mountains, wild flower meadows, and streams.Guest review byMarkUnited Kingdom - 10.0

An old renovated farm with swimming pool. Full of char . Large rooms and bathrooms . Not air conditioned. Side kitchen with fridge and amenities if you want to bring your own picnic. Beautiful breakfast. A bit to close to the road but quiet at night . Friendly hosts.Guest review byMartineUnited States - 8.0

Though the little town has medieval character, you do no travel to Murat for the town itself, but rather as a basis to explore the surroundings. Fist at all the volcanoes like the Puy Mary and the Plomb du Cantal or old towns and villages in the region, like Saint Flour or Salers (with its world-renowned cheese) not to mention the castles, old churches and little valleys dotted with farms, cows, sheep and goats. The region is a hiking paradise and good for biking tours too.Guest review byClaudioSwitzerland
