A fantastic place to stay, in my opinion - my room was large and offered everything needed. It was not the bland usual hotel thing but rather it was nicely decorated for a distinct experience. The location right on the lake is wonderful, with views across the water to the north, and a deck for sitting outside if one wants to, during meals or just for pleasure. Overall, this hotel gives the impression that the owners care and want guests to be comfortable, and it is still small enough to not be the usual bland thing of a large hotel, while offering all one could wish for. Downtown is within walking distance.

There was sauna and the cottage was nice with fireplace and all was good. Very helpful staff despite it was Christmas Eve!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Kemijärvi! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how immaculately clean and well-maintained the entire hotel was. I had a really pleasant stay at Academy Hotel Kemijärvi. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We loved the location right by the lake, especially with the outdoor fire where you can cook your meals and enjoy breakfast in the morning. Everything was spotless. The host was also very kind, when we asked, he gladly washed the clothes we had from our trekking trip.

This is a great budget place for everyone looking for a comfortable, nice and inexpensive place to stay. We arrived very late and probably woke up the owner. However, she had no problem showing us around and welcoming us, although she spoke little English. The lady was so kind, even brought us free pancakes in the morning :-) the room was clean and comfy, felt like being in the 20is. It had everything one needs. Very charming and spacious.

This is a perfect place for bigger families. Lots of room and toys for kids to play with. Nice living room/kitchen area with a big fireplace. The upstairs offers some privacy for others if needed and balcony was a super nice and cosy place to relax. The always ready sauna is also big enough for the whole family and it's safe to use! The location is very good if you want to explore the eastern Lapland area. To move around the region you need a car although there is some public transportation. The hosts Pekka and Pauliina were there to show how everything works and they were super friendly. Would definitely recommend this place if you have a bigger family or group and you want to explore this part of Lapland!
