The room was quite large (I think we were upgraded). While rather rustic, it was comfortable and had everything we needed. The area is beautiful and in general very quiet. The town of Laguardia is very cute. Breakfast was ok (not particularly lux but acceptable). Parking is abundant. Pool was awesome. Lots of loungers around in the grassy area.

A very comfortable room with balcony at the lively heart of this lovely small village. We walked to the old part where there are old churches and houses with a great view from the higher church over surrounding village. Up there we found the wine bar garden at Bodegas Tierra. There are good restaurants and bars in the village which we enjoyed. We did not eat food on site but the restaurant and bar were obviously popular with locals.

The room was superb. It was in the attached accommodation and had a beautiful terrace and view of the church in the nearby village which was lit at night. The terrace a was lovely for snacks and drinks. The staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. The breakfast was exceptional and we enjoyed the tour of the winery and tasting. The hotel buildings are dramatic and iconic.

The owner and the staff were amazing with us, they took time to explain us about the wine area, their wines, the town, the history. They made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The property was lovely, it was ancien style as from 1619 but very well kept so it had all the facilities to make the experience wonderful.

Terri is an angel and made us an upgrade just because she had the opportunity! We have stayed one night at the Retiro del Obispo, which was excellent both in terms of room, facilities and a super communal kitchen on the top floor with terrace overlooking the vineyards. The next night we spent in the Manor House (our original booking) which is a gem in the Kalea Mayor. Extra space in a big living room, choice of toiletries, coffee maker in the room with many choices of coffee, extra thought for female guests with hair towel, lots of wardrobe space, lovely decor of the room, and bathtub. We have loved both places so much, and cherish the detail and attention Terri and her husband puts into the house as well as the organising part. Thanks to Terri we were able to visit the Bai Gorri winery and have an amaazing lunch with five of their lovely wines (they were fully booked on the internet, but she fixed it). She also helped us rent bikes that took us out in the vineyards. Her suggestion to go to Biazteri for dinner was also very helpful, we loved the food and the ambiance. It is so nice to come to a place which is as nice as in the pictures! We will definitely love to come back!

We are a family of 3 who shared one room. It was comfortable for us and quiet. The place is very ‘home’ style - feels like staying in someone’s home (which I think the upstairs is). The facilities are not flash but clean and authentic. There is a large shared lounge room that is very comfortable to relax in, with a library and large TV. Located within the old city walls, you have many cafes and restaurants a very short walk away. Free public parking is available outside the city walls, down two sets of stairs: quite a hike if you have a lot of luggage.

It was a beautiful place in very nice surroundings. The place was big, clean and had all the needed stuff for the stay. The host was helpful at all times and always available if needed. There is a cosy garden with a barbecue where we could spend all night in peace and quiet. I definitely recommend this place if you visit the area.

Laguardia is in the centre of the Rioja wine growing region.

Laguardia is in the centre of the Rioja wine growing region. Its a mediaeval village surrounded bu a wall, no traffic in the narrow streets, Only 5 minute walk north to south and 3 minutes across within the walls. At least 5 bodegas within the walls so a wine tour ( or several) are recommended. For outdoor adventure the spectacular mountain range to the north for hiking and MTB is just minutes away.

I was travelling and had therefore a short stay. Fantastic beautiful nature. For wanderers and tracking, a really quiet place. I did not find many things open between the hours of about 17.00 and 20.30hr. It is OK, but maybe make it more clear, so people can prepare and will not be disappointed. The rest. Quiet! Good for recovering and escaping the hectic of normal life.

We walked into Elciego looking to find some local shops and a few bars/ restaurants, but like many other similar villages there weren't many of either! Nice to walk around but very sleepy. The village really seems to exist for the Marques de Riscal building/hotel/winery and other similar bodegas in the local surroundings.
