FAQs about hotels in Costa del Sol

Much More Than Just Sun

With warm waters and sun-drenched beaches, the Costa del Sol certainly lives up to its name. From north of Gibraltar to Almuñecar, this part of Andalusia is a top destination for holidaymakers of all budgets.

Puerto Banús attracts the world’s super-rich, and many moor million-pound yachts in its harbour. Glamorous Marbella also has designer shops, an orange tree-lined square, and easy access to Costa del Sol golf courses.

Quieter Estepona has a low-key harbour and several good Costa del Sol hotels for kids, while Fuengirola’s long, sandy beach is overlooked by a Moorish castle and Roman ruins. On its outskirts is Mijas waterpark, named after the hill town offering fantastic views of the Costa’s rugged mountains and pristine beaches.

Another waterpark - Aqualand - is in Torremolinos, a vibrant resort with many Costa del Sol hotels by the beach. Long and sandy, it stretches all the way to lively Benalmádena, from where dolphin watching trips depart. Also here is Tivoli World theme park, and a cable car just opposite goes up Monte Calamorro.

With its impressive Alcazaba castle overlooking Roman ruins, Málaga, the region’s capital, was the birthplace of Picasso, and a museum and his former home can be visited. Nerja to the east boasts a 19th-century aqueduct and the Balcony of Europe promenade above its beach.

We love this hotel! This is the second year we stay there and it's great! The service is very good and friendly. We had issues with our first room but the staff were kind enough to move us to a better room when it was available. Great pool area, always lively and something fun going on at night. Great location with good restaurants and beaches close by. Love this place!

First time we went we had low expectations, but flights and hotel availability at the last minute led us there. You think this will be the worst of “Brits abroad”, the name conjures up thoughts of cheap high rise, over developed hotels. But actually it’s a nice town with a lovely seafront. The whole place was a pleasant surprise. Great long beach, lovely promenade, old town is worth a walk around, good restaurants with local food. Also has a strong LGBTQ+ culture. In high season it may be very busy and a different experience, but for a half term escape with the kids it is terrific.

Lots to do, great promenade (I particularly liked all of the mosaics and patterns along the walk). Beach was not brilliant and the sea was a bit dirty so was disappointed I couldn't have a swim. We ate at a great beach bar called Palm Beach, very good, reasonable food and a great view. We took a trip in the cable car and it was an amazing view from the top - would recommend. We also visited the old town and Colomores Castle which had great views, unique and very pretty architecture. I enjoyed our stay there, wish we could've stayed longer but was just on a short break with my elderly mum. Not hugely accessible if you are with elderly as there are a lot of steps and steep slopes but we managed to get around by Ubers and taking lots of breaks!

Estepona is a much bigger town than I thought with a lot of high rise buildings but the Old town is really quaint and beautiful with little cobbled streets full of pots of flowers everywhere! The town is very clean and apart from the odd dog poo there was no litter. Lots of cafes and restaurants to chose from and what we did like was there were hardly any tacky souvenier shops! I would thoroughly recommend going up to Clio rooftop bar the view was amazing! The promenade is lovely stretching for miles alongside the clean beaches with lots of palm tress and green plantation. We loved looking out for the numerous sculptures and murials which are dotted everywhere....Estepona has everything....clean beaches, beautiful old town, lots of places to eat and a lovely harbour.

it is a lovely town, friendly with lots of good restaurants and small shops. The park area around the old bullring and church was very nice (I was happy that the bullring wasn't in use). As an animal lover, the donkeys and horses seemed to be well looked after. At least I hope they were. The bus service in the centre of the town was excellent. The walks in the mountains were great. The staff in the Tourist Centre were helpful. The atmosphere at night was nice and pleasant. The white washed houses were nice and the history of the town was interesting.
