South AfricaWhere do I even begin - I wish the stay could have been longer. Jaz Riviera is phenomenal - the perfect balance of elegant, modern design considerations and uncompromised principles of hospitality.
Everything from arrival to the very point when you leave, is special.
We arrived in the morning, hours before the standard check-in time of 14:00 and Abdallah immediately assured us that a room would be prepped and we should head to breakfast in the meantime, while they finalise.
We were given a free room upgrade and settled in the room by 11:30.
The food, the beverage options, the variety of restaurants and ample seating between pools and beachfront is unmatched.
The service and attentive staff of Jaz Riviera is truly what makes it world class - to our newfound bestie; Abdelrahman, as well as the entire wait staff between all the delicious meals -
We are truly in awe. A truly priceless experience and an experience that will be repeated soon.
Up to the very last moment when we are checking out to leave and Mahmoud at the front desk helped to organise our transfer to Hurghada- nothing is ever too much to ask for the Jaz Riviera team.

• The main restaurant offers good food, but during my two-week stay, I felt that it lacked variety.
• Breakfast (7:00–10:00): There were always two types of salmon, fresh juices, smoothies, omelets, poached eggs, pancakes, waffles, strawberries, and plenty of fruits.
• Lunch (12:30–14:30): Always a choice of meat or fish. The pasta with garlic, shrimp, and cream in the main restaurant is highly recommended.
• Splash Bar (12:30–16:30): Great pizza, crispy chicken schnitzel, and fresh salads.
• Bay View (12:30–16:00): Highly recommend the salmon sandwich and cheesecake.
• Dinner (18:30–21:00): Tasty dishes in the main restaurant and both à la cartes.
• Tao à la carte: Delicious soups and sushi.
• Bay View à la carte: Highly recommend the baked salmon.
• Also, great beachfront restaurants at Jaz Riviera and Iberotel.

The staff at Wadi Sabarah Lodge went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was exceptional. In particular, Nabil and his team at the restaurant made my dining experience truly memorable. Their warm and friendly demeanor, coupled with their attentive service, made every meal a delight. Speaking of the food, I was thrilled to discover that the lodge offers a restaurant-style dining experience instead of the typical buffet. The dishes were delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented.
The architecture of Wadi Sabarah Lodge is absolutely stunning. The design pays homage to Egypt's rich history and culture while incorporating modern elements that make for a truly unique and visually captivating experience. My room was spacious and elegantly decorated, featuring a lovely terrace with a breathtaking sea view – the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
For book lovers and history buffs, the lodge's beautiful library is a treasure trove of knowledge. It houses an extensive collection of books on Egypt and art, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the local culture and history during their stay.
Lastly, the botanic garden at Wadi Sabarah Lodge is a hidden gem. Dr. Irina, a knowledgeable specialist, oversees the garden and is always eager to share her passion for the flora and fauna found within. The garden is meticulously maintained, and walking through it feels like stepping into a verdant paradise.

Area is under development so you should expect some dust from construction work but everything was spotless clean.

The hospitality is extraordinary.
First day we arrived just after lunch hours, after understanding we’ve not had lunch and would like some snacks, the hotel staff and chef made us a full table meal, from pasta to grilled aubergine and peppers - all super delicious.
I’m vegetarian and since stepping into this hotel, all the chefs have said hi and introduced themselves to me, triple checking everyday to make sure I was satisfied with the food served. They always say to let them know if I want anything in particular and they’ll make for me.
We also asked if there’s any guava fruits we could have, and Sammy the general manager of the hotel, brought a bag full of fresh guava just for us. The fruit was fresh and delicious - photo taken together with the fruit palette delivered to our hotel room in the evening.

It was very close to the Abu Dabab beach, which was one of the best beaches I've ever been to, with amazing snorkelling, sunbathing and diving opportunities, and some nice bars to get some cold beers. The rooms were clean, cosy, and comfortable, and the area around was full of flowers and greenery, which gave such a nice feel to the place. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, always making sure we were ok, and the food in the restaurant was great. This place is great for SCUBA divers or people who like to spend most of their time by the ocean.

The Alaya hotel guests has a private beach area at Coraya bay, my husband and I were given a lift there by a golf cart. Alaya staff greeted us at the beach area ,attending to our needs. providing beach chairs, umbrella and bar service . The swimming are is great, water is clean and warm. Snorkeling and scuba diving is available. I did snorkel and it was a great experience.

The place is small but pretty, with nice bars and restaurants and lots of opportunities for excursions. The restaurants offer good food, but it's a bit expensive for Egypt; you can tell that tourists are expected to pay more than usual.

I love Marsa Alam and Abu Dabab most, as far as the Red Sea...
I love Marsa Alam and Abu Dabab most, as far as the Red Sea goes. My favourite place of all time is the Concorde Moreen Hotel, with the Hilton coming a strong second.
We only ate at the hotels, because our time was limited.
I used the taxi service offered online by Booking.com, which I found to be very efficient and reasonable. But I am also a seasoned traveller in Egypt and do not find it difficult to negotiate with taxi drivers. (It can be very useful to ask Chat GPT first what an average trip should cost you, if you are unsure, and then use that as a guideline for your negotiations.)
It's an amazing experience to go out on a boat, but picking the right one can make the difference. I will be leaving my review on our experience separately (as it warrants a whole story on its own :))

No so much facilities ( food places, supermarkets,..) and pharmacies located around hotels.
Weather is hot, limited gas stations and road is not preferable to be taken at night.

The sea was beautiful.
The sea was beautiful. Unfortunately strong winds kept me from going into the sea. We stayed mostly in the lagoons. There was no access to sea from the beach, only from the pier. The life guards were good and attentive.

Beach area we were in wasn't the greatest,no swimming area ,too shallow and rocky not sandy.Took quad ride out in desert was fun.Lots of fish to see on reefs,water very clean.marss Mubarak has resident dugong and turtles but didn't see the dugong on our visit.Overall nice place ,a bit on the windy side but nice relief from heat.

"I did not leave the grounds of the Iberotel Costa Marès. There are already so many wonderful things to do like snorkeling, diving, massages and especially the many activities offered by Captain Mahmoud's extraordinary team and the high quality shows performed in the evening. All the staff are adorable, attentive, attentive both on the beach and by the pool as well as in the various restaurants, not to mention the maintenance staff and gardeners, the cooks, the waiters (mention special for Ahzem from the main restaurant, Abd Allah at the pool restaurant, Mostafa who is part of Mahmoud's team, Hod Hod on the beach and many others of whom I don't really know the spelling of their first name. are all very courageous, with a sense of humor and kindness like I have rarely seen. Everything is put in place so that you only want to do one thing... come back as quickly as possible."

I mentioned everything in my review, what I liked and didn’t like. Mainly, I noticed that someone bought a quad bike tour, and they were taken just a little way behind the hotel to ride on a pile of sand for a short while. There was trash and plastic all around, a complete wasteland—nothing pretty. I’m used to greenery, which I understand is lacking in this destination, but I definitely wouldn’t buy an overpriced camel or quad bike tour. Especially because, in that heat, it wouldn’t be an enjoyable experience for me, and with the trash around, definitely not. I did a diving trip, but it ended up being canceled. Unfortunately, they made us leave our things (like backpacks) in a place where locals were moving around, and we had no way to secure them. The original plan was that we would be on a boat. In the end, it didn’t happen, and that was probably for the best. I booked the trip through Booking. I had no particular expectations, even though we were supposed to see dolphins. Eventually, I arranged for diving, and I enjoyed it. Since I’m already a diver, it was easy, but when I saw how they even turn diving into a business, it bothered me. I saw parents forcing their 12-year-old daughter to try diving. She was crying, didn’t want to do it, but the father insisted because it was paid for. I watched her struggle and feel uncomfortable. It saddens me to see that everything can be bought with money, and that’s just wrong.

Port Ghalib is worth a visit, outside of the AI Hotels.
Port Ghalib is worth a visit, outside of the AI Hotels. Nice bars, good restaurants and friendly people. On Saturdays there is now a Cruiseship visiting Port Ghalib, hopefully the effects on the reef etc. will be not too negative.
