Located on the quieter West Bank of Luxor, this hotel has Nile views from your balcony and rooftop overlooking Luxor Temple. We were welcomed and treated like family by Mahmoud and his staff and family. The tours offered were at a very reasonable price. We had a guide called Abu for a tour of the valley of the kings/queens and a couple of other sites and he was fantastic, very knowledgeable and engaging. For all your West Bank site seeing this hotel is a perfect location. The hotel is located right at the water so catching a motor boat across to the East Bank for the sites there or a little more hustle and bustle was super easy! The rooms are basic, but very spacious with good AC. During our stay there were a couple of power outages that were village wide- a government initiative of some sort - we were told by many sources. The included breakfast was generous and the young chef Mohammed cooked us a delicious dinner on our first night. The kindness and relaxing environment made this one of our favourite stops in Egypt.

Beautiful, family run place, rooms are clean and as far as we could see, all with their own balconies. The hotel is on the West bank, off the beaten path but they can provide a driver. I highly recommend Mohammed, who drove us around for 3 days, was polite and extremely helpful. Special thanks to our host Mr Said who not just provided us with a delegated driver, but also organized us programs for our entire stay (sometimes in the night before a day requiring an early morning wake up). It’s like one big family there. The hotel staff will do what they can to make your stay great. If I go back, no doubt I will return back here. Their restaurant is unique, award winner as they grow most of their own vegetables and fruits and everything is organic. Just ask Mr Said and he will proudly walk you around, they do a fantastic job there. The staff will do its best to help you with everything they can, however they might speak broken English.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Steigenberger Resort Achti, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. The atmosphere of the hotel is warm and inviting, creating a sense of comfort and relaxation throughout my stay. A special mention goes to the manager Mostafa El Ganzory, who went above and beyond to ensure that every guest felt valued and cared for. Their attention to detail and dedication to providing exceptional service truly made a difference. It's clear that the team at Steigenberger takes great pride in making their guest's stay memorable. If you're looking for a place that combines excellent service with a homely atmosphere, I highly recommend Steigenberger Achti. I can't wait to return!

The owner Nasser and the workers (especially Mahmoud) are very kind and friendly people. They made me feel very comfortable and I felt like I was with better friends than some people I have known for years. They helped me organise trips around Luxor and to Aswan and also we shared things about our lives with each other. My favourite view in all of my trip in Egypt is from the top of the hotel at the restaurant, looking out over green fields to the mountain, and watching the sunset in the evening or balloon rides in the early morning... with the arches and painted ceiling above. I actually enjoyed my time here so much that it made me come back to the West Bank of Luxor and stayed in this hotel again, for longer. I can recommend the Cleopatra Hotel to everyone.

I created a very intense tour of Egypt for my family. We were all exhausted when we arrived to the El Gezira. The hotel and our room was a lovely surprise. We got a family room so we could all be together. The kids cooled off in the pool. I slept better here than anywhere else on our trip. I’m sad we didn’t get a chance to stay longer. The food was great!

On the East Side: Karnak Temple is definitely a must.

On the East Side: Karnak Temple is definitely a must. Luxor Temple is ok, if you have time. I wish I had been able to go to the Mummification Museum. On the West Side: Only saw the three tombs (Rameses III, the IV, the IX) that came with the general entrance ticket. They were enough for me. King Tut's tomb still has the mummy, so probably worth the additional fee. Queen Hatshepsut's Temple was just ok. I was expecting something grander, especially after reading The Queen Who Would Be King. More interesting for me were the Workers' village and tombs (must-see and worth the extra admission fee). I could have stayed an extra day just to spend time at the hotel where I stayed for two nights (The New Memnon Hotel, I highly recommend). On the negative side, beware of people asking for tips just about everywhere, but especially the airport (the security screening area, the Egypt Air check-in counter, for heaven's sake!). Visited many key locations in Egypt, and I found Luxor to be the worst in terms of baksheesh. Unfortunately, a bad reflection on Egypt.

Luxor is a lovely town with friendly people.

Luxor is a lovely town with friendly people. Getting around is easy with In Drive app. there are always vehicles available. It's best to use the app, agree the fair upfront to avoid surprises at the end of the trip. For our trip, we booked a fully guided tour of all the temples and sites. This made it so much more relaxed and enjoyable. Options are available on Bookings.com and are reasonably priced. Shops generally did not display prices so be aware of the actual cost of items before shopping around as you might end up paying more than the fair price.

On the east bank, the Luxor and Karnak Temples are a must...

On the east bank, the Luxor and Karnak Temples are a must see. Especially the Karnak Temple was very impressive and big. The souks are nice to get some souvenirs. Shopkeepers are much less pushy than in Cairo, but they will still try to get you into their shop. They won't insist if you don't show interest, which is good. To get to the west bank, there are many boat owners who can be pushy, but there is also the public ferry for 25EGP (you have to insist on this price, as they first asked us 1 USD per person). The kings valley is a must see as well. The queen Hatshepsut temple is nice from the outside, but I found it less worth the entrance fee. I would recommend a hot air balloon ride, as it gave me the best view over the Kings valley, queens valley, queen Hatshepsut temple and other temples, as well as a distant view on the city and surrounding desert and hills/mountains. Taxis / private boats will require some negotiating and also best reserve some money (10%) for tips as it is the standard over there.
