The rooms are large, cool and airy, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The hotel has 3 pools, a sky bar with music, food a good bar and fantastic views. The restaurant has really good choice of good food that is served in generous portions, breakfast is very good too. We booked for bed and breakfast only but the meals were very good value. You sleep amongst trees and can watch and listen to all kinds of birds species from your own hammock. Also, it is in walking distance to Minca's center, which is a big plus in comparison to many other comparable hotels/hostels. I want to particularly highlight how great the staff was (Sr. Jorge & Elisabeth in the kitchen), but especially Adriana and Bryam from the reception. They were extremely accommodating and lovely, helped me organise fantastic tours and unique experiences and truly had the best recommendations on how to spend the best time in Minca. Our time in Santa Marta/Rodadero/Minca was nice, although we did not get the full experience of "where the mountain meet the sea" that we were expecting. We did not take a day trip to the national park because yellow fever vaccinations were required for entry. The beaches in the area are okay, though not outstanding. Guachaca was a nice tiny village to stay in with proximity to both Buritaca and Costeño beaches and Tayrona park. It's easy to catch the bus to take you along the main road to these other towns and some hikes. Trash is a noticeable issue in Taganga, Santa Marta, and the surrounding areas, which could use more attention. In general, the online description of the trail is not accurate. You are crossing a mountain range.... steep ups and downs followed by a steep down to the resort. Cianaga seems to have a beautiful location near the beach and with views of the mountains. We went to a great restaurant called El Turisto Sadly, The city is very, very dirty with trash everywhere. Santa Marta is beautiful and really fun.
Santa Marta is beautiful and really fun. We stayed 4 nights, which felt just right. There isn't a ton to do there during the day, but we had two wonderful day trips. For those wanting to hike the Tayrona trail, this resort is close by the entrance of the park, and it is a blessing to have this place nearby after hours of walking in the heat.
