- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 227 reviewsPlace which makes you feel rich The best place on Raratonga. It’s located in Muri, just in front of most famous and the most beautiful lagoon of whole island. In Muri there’s night market 4 times a week so if you want to try local food not for “tourist price” that’s the easiest place to go. Market is located 5 minutes on foot from hotel so you don’t have to wait for bus or rent a car just to eat dinner. Two houses away are lagoon cruises departing points so we got every morning a bit of live music for free. Also, around 10 min on foot there’s Te Vara Nui - “island night” entertainment, the only one with stage on water. Beaches on Raro are public but the land in front of them is not so access to beach is a bit tricky if you don’t have accommodation with direct access. This hotel has desk overlooking lagoon and stairs to beach so from your bed you have like 1 minute to beach :) Hotel itself is tiny but that’s its great advantage. It is very private - 5 bungalows for max 2 people, with “only adults” rule and pool just next to beach it makes you feel like you are in place for billionaires, when you actually didn’t have spend that much. Bungalows have huge verandas with chairs and table, where you can have breakfast enjoying ocean or mountain view. Rooms are very spacious, high ceiling with underside of roof open, fan (you really need it to sleep), big comfy bed, love seats just amazing - so comfy I could sleep in them. There’s bathroom on one side and kitchenette on the other, behind bed. There’s everything you need in kitchen if you decide to cook - even mixer to make smoothies from fresh local fruits. I have read in description of the place there would a welcome local fruit if available and I thought it just for show, when actually we got a bowl of local bananas (banana tree was just next to our veranda) and limes. Room is equipped with everything you might need - there’s chair pillows for chairs on veranda and on desk in front of beach.Guest review bycatekociPoland
- From US$476.32 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 221 reviewsThe resort is a perfect stay because it is located on the lagoon, which means it is safe to swim, snorkel and Kayak in calmer waters. All of the equipment is free to use and located on the beach, along with sun beds and towels. The resort is located to a food night market which is great to try the local food, the bus stop is at the top of the road and is frequent and easy to catch around the island. The staff were very friendly and on hand to help when needed. We also booked spa treatments, facial and massage, both were amazing and definitely recommend.Guest review byClaireNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 485 reviewsThe front desk staff was very kind. I didn't understand English, so they used the translation function to explain, made reservations for activities, and sent me to the next accommodation. The cleaning people were also very friendly. The beach is in front of you, the night market is next door, and there is a rental car nearby, so the location is great!Guest review byTANAKAJapan

The weather was not warm enough for swimming and snorkeling...
The weather was not warm enough for swimming and snorkeling every day (which we had hoped for) as the lagoon is very beautiful. Thankfully we had no rain so we walked a few of the very beautiful (but hard) walks on the island. The groceries on the island are very expensive but the restaurant prices are on par with Sydney prices so we ate out every night although we booked self contained accommodation. The restaurants are excellent and most have beautiful views. Read reviews on Tripadvisor. There is a bus service on the island but for convenience and to save time we hired a car. People are really lovely and the day trip to Aitutaki an absolute must! Book that one early. A week was just right.Guest review byclogs6542Australia - 8.0
This is a good area, it's not to busy with tourist.
This is a good area, it's not to busy with tourist. You might feel your left out from all the fun places. But if you have your own transport or you don't mind using the public transport then your not far from anything at all. Your on the right side of the island for the sunset, go next door and have a drink at the resort bar on the beach while the sun sets in front of you.Guest review byMiro - 10.0
Had a great time, I worked when there was no wind and went...
Had a great time, I worked when there was no wind and went kite boarding when there was. The beaches there are beautiful with three different locations for kiting and a whole island if your not. for kiting, depending on wind direction, any one of them is an awesome place to kite. If you don't kite and you just want an awesome holiday near a beautiful beach, I couldn't recommend it more. Other islands within the Cook Islands offer great options, but cost more. If budget is an issue, then there is plenty to do on Raro and you will still experience the beauty of the tropical islands.Guest review byJasonAustralia - 10.0
Reflection is a beautiful and relaxing stay.
Reflection is a beautiful and relaxing stay. You have options to cool down from a beautiful private pool or the ocean within a few steps from your doors. Weather was not on my side but that did not stop me from having the best swim ever. I highly recommend this place.Guest review byMrs FataiNew Zealand - 10.0

You need at least 10 nights to make the most out of this visit and do some activities but give yourself some down time days as well. The Island is absolutely beautiful, and we will definitely be back.Guest review byAngelaAustralia - 10.0
My partner and I personally feel that Arorangi is better...
My partner and I personally feel that Arorangi is better than the Muri area. The roads are a bit rougher and less maintained, but the lagoon and snorkelling is by far superior! We loved hanging out at the Aroa Marine Reserve which is by The Rarotongan Beach Resort & Spa. We swam with turtles almost every day - they just cruise past you. PLEASE DO NOT touch the turtles and respect their space - we always stayed at least an arms length from them or further away. I was sad to leave Rarotonga, we were there for 11 nights and it was just right. Not too long, not too short. The water seems way saltier than NZ water. The water quality is great and so clear in some places. The temperature of the water - WOW!!! Pretty warm and it was amazingly pleasant to swim in there. We went middle of March and it was perfect. Please never forget to apply reef-friendly sunblock even on your face as the UV rays can reflect on your face in the water. I burnt my face the first day I went snorkelling and the back of my legs - I learnt fast. The sun is not as harsh as the NZ sun though.Guest review byLee-Ann VHNew Zealand - 10.0

Beautiful beaches, just be mindful not to swim on Saturdays as it is their Sabbath day (head to Nikau beach on that day 😊) Wigmores is a few minutes away, cheap ice cream and donuts, hot meals too. Bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper, the roosters love to serernade the place all day long lolGuest review byStephenAustralia - 10.0
