Coffee machine and electric kettle provided in the room along with pods, teabags, and cream (always a plus when you're backpacking and cannot carry all you want). Blinds allowed for a great night sleep, so did the comfy bed and the air conditioner. There was even a TV which allowed us to catch an international track and field meet, and fall asleep on it. Breakfast was well organized; it did not include meat or eggs but had an assortment of bread, cheeses, and yogurts, along with orange juice. A nice yard with tables and chairs provided a green, intimate space to lounge, right inside of the walled city.

There is a hiking path to the lake of Murten just underneath the hotel. 20 minutes drive to Papiliorama, if you want to be there early. The best is to be at Papiliorama as soon as it opens in the morning. The breakfast is delicious and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

This hotel is impressive for its heritage: first documented as a hotel in the 14C. But despite some intentional remnants in the building, the rooms have been modernized by a designer with excellent style and taste. No indication that the room was any older than a few years! We had a room with a small kitchen and courtyard view, but it was spacious and very quiet - couldn't even hear any noise from the restaurant right below. Murten is a charming medieval town that is worth stopping in for a night when the tourists are gone and the atmosphere is special.

The room was fantastic, better and larger than we were expecting. It was very clean with a modern bathroom with walk in shower.
The on site restaurant was nice and the guy who served our breakfast was so friendly. The breakfast wasn’t a traditional all you can eat buffet, they bring the food to your table, but we were offered more than we could eat/drink, it was very generous!

Got a special deal through booking.com during their renovations of the spa. Had a very good time. Two pools fully open and were wonderfully quiet (in summer can be full of screaming kids). Temporary sauna really nice. Breakfast excellent- the local butters, jams, cheeses and charcuterie were outstanding.

It is a good place to stay, from which to do side trips by...
It is a good place to stay, from which to do side trips by train or bus. It would be a bit cheaper than staying in a bigger city. It is not flooded with tourists, compared with Interlaken , for example. It is a pleasant town to walk around, not too large, with a view of the Alps, on a clear day.

It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval centre, including intact and walkable fortification wall, and lots of nice places to eat. It is well-connected transport-wise for visits to nearby attractions like the roman ruins in Avenches or the (really well-worth visiting) 12th century abbey in Payerne. Lake boats ply daily (in summer) to Neuchatel.

Fantastic style and spacious rooms with an extremely comfortable bed. Due to the proximity to the highway, quick and easy to find. Strongly recommended, especially for people on a longer trip seeking a great stopover. The restaurant is closed on the weekend I was told when I arrived, but there are alternatives nearby.

Nicely renovated old building in small valley, near the river in middle of forest. Away from town and noise. Very good starting point for walking around and relaxing .Very good breakfast was included in price, nice restaurant with trout specialities from local waters. Super friendly personnel taking care that nothing is missed. Car is recommended, it can be tricky to arrive without it. Although, there is a train station some 7-800 meters away. Super price/quality ratio taking into account that it is Switzerland. My recommendation to stay, if possible, spring, summer, autumn. Nature at its best

Neuchatel offers a tourist pass with free entry to many attractions in the canton and free public transport. Note that many places are closed on Sundays and/or Mondays.
We made the most of the sunshine by taking a train to Buttes and walking in the mountains above the chairlift (included in the tourist pass), with fabulous views over the lake, the Jura and the distant Alps. We also enjoyed a morning boat trip and a peaceful walk through protected marshland at St Blaise.
We loved the food in Himalaya Momo.

The hotel is situated in the valley of the Areuse with a view on the Creux du Van natural rock formation and easy access to it and the Areuse gorge a little upstream. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We chose trout for dinner and were very happy with our meal.
Breakfast was just as good with a variety of choices.

Lovely town on the side of the lake with good shops, restaurants and some historical sights. Beware it is very hilly away from lakeside but public transport is very good. Good location from which to explore the area by road or rail (but rail is expensive). Cities such as Bern and Lausanne are just under an hour away.
