We spent our first and last night of our stay in Botswana at MoOs River Lodge and really enjoyed it. Everything met our expectations and the price/performance ratio was very good. The rooms were clean and quiet, the beds were very comfortable, and there were extra blankets for the cool nights. The room had a refrigerator, kettle, tea, coffee, and water (which could be refilled at any time). The English breakfast was included in the price and was prepared fresh for us (no buffet!). In the evening, we could choose from several dishes and it tasted very good. (not included in the price) The housekeeper helped us at all times and answered all our questions. The pool was very clean.

The accommodation is super clean and the bed was very comfortable. They clean your room evey day. What makes this place unique is the hostess, Kai and her her three wonderful boys. They make you feel welcome and they are very helpful. They really make you feel like you are part of the family. Kai can organise excursions to the Okavango delta and I would strongly recommend them. She drives you to the delta and organises everything for you including breakfast and a delicious lunch. It was a great experience with a really good local guide. We extended our stay for two more nights and we could have stayed longer. Definitely coming back to this accommodation when we come back to Botswana.

When we didn't want to end our Botswana trip staying in a typical hotel we decided on staying at Jayla's homestay. Best decision we made. Immediately we felt we had come to stay with family or friends. The warm welcome continued for the duration of our stay as we unwound from bouncing around the back country of Botswana. All the reviews made mention of the meals prepared by Mmapula and how the food was so good. I had a hard time believing this but it is so true. I asked her repeatedly if she had trained or cooked professionally and she said no. What a talented natural cook she is. Everything she prepared for us was delicious. Also, she is very generous with her time and we had long discussions on the day to day living in Botswana.  Please note this is a homestay. There isn't a pool or anything fancy. Our room was a good size with a fridge, kettle, coffee and tea. Good A/C and to my wife's delight a big bathtub. There was a comfortable outside seating area with a fridge as well. Dinner is at the communal table with the other guests where you can share you traveling stories. Just a great stay.

Askiesbos was one of the best places we stayed on our 3-week trip to Botswana. We stayed in one of the river tents with the outdoor bathroom and everything was very clean, with convenient places to put your things, like soap and toiletries. The common areas are comfy, with tea and coffee and filtered/purified water available on-tap. The view over the pan-handle papyrus whilst sat on a sofa was brilliant. We spotted a handful of birds just from there! Our excursions were booked ahead of time and were not only value for money but were brilliant. If you are interested in birds, ask for Lucky as your guide. We saw over 60-bird species in just two days spent with him (panhandle tour and Tsodilo hills walk). The accommodation is a little out of the way, but fully accessible from the main road and we were able to organise a pick-up from the bus stop also. Overall, fantastic stay - highly recommend.

We did not stay for long, but for stocking up the twon a good amount of shops and chain stores you may also know from South Africa. Unfortunately, the croc farms seems to have closed down, the local game park was closed for rehabilitation, and the museum was closed for the weekend.

We were disappointed, we were under the impression that we could drive around in the area and on the premises, but you have to book for game drives. The water hole is on the side for the tented camp visitors, the people camping does not really have access. The camping is a good stop over for one night, but a longer stay will is not recommended.

For tourists going into the delta I recommend at least a day in Maun to check out the local sights and meet some of the locals. Botswana and Maun in particular see tourists come in and go straight out to the delta, so no added benefit to the residents just a constant flow of people leaving nothing of benefit to the local community Stop over in a local hotel, there are plenty to suit every ones finances, interact with the local community there is lots to do and see

When you see distance to town center for hotels in Maun, don't be deceived like I was. Town center is a ratty 4 way stop, nothing you want to be too close to. There are a few places in Maun that may be OK but you have to do your research and they are spread out.
