What an outstanding place! This is a must stay spot for those who wish to blend with the Daintree forest/jungle and most importantly, prefer stay in more pristine nature. We also had a magic feeling when swimming at night in their wonderful pool with rainforest leaves above it and gazing at well visible stars. You hear so much around (especially at night) and may also see some lovely rainforest creatures that otherwise you would not spot. It was a dry period then, so we did not experience any mosquitos. They also serve wonderful food and the staff is fantastic. But this place may be not for those who prefer tiled/glassed/cushioned ambience or music/noise- better go elsewhere so not to spoil the tranquillity of this spot. We would definitely stay there again as it was one of most memorable stays during our full month trip in Australia.

We stayed in Greg’s property for 1 night in Oct., 2024. Greg was a very nice and welcoming host, and the lodge was clean. The breakfast was also great! Some of the facilities (e.g. the fridge in our lodge) isn’t fully working due to cyclone Jasper’s damage. However, it was totally understandable as the entire area hasn’t fully recovered from the damage yet, and Greg did his best to make things as comfortable as possible. The free WiFi in room was working and was in reasonable speed. We highly recommend staying in Greg’s property when visiting Daintree / Diwan area!

Where to start... this place is a gem. The location is incredibly rare and special. The sounds of the birds, bats and insect life are unique and it's just so lovely to fall asleep and wake up to. The walking trails, make sure you have enough light left in the day to not get lost! It's an adventure exploring all the tracks. My favourite track was the boardwalk that went along the creek. That blew my mind! How can something be so pretty! We enjoyed collecting the colourful fruits and pods on the forest floor. Never seen anything like them before. The rooms are basic but large and comfortable. The bathroom is squishy but we didn't mind. It's just a bathroom. The owners are so lovely. They brought us a microwave and plates etc so we could heat up the food we brought. They also have a BBQ and there's a fridge and kettle in the room. I wanted to stay there for longer. I've already told my friends to stay there and they have booked for July!

Beautiful location surrounded by rainforest, fruit trees, and birds really immerses you in the wilderness experience. The cabin has ample space to spread out for a couple, enjoy the views and enjoy simple meals. The bed was comfortable and bathroom well equipped to clean up after hikes and snorkeling. We only prepared simple breakfasts, for which the facilities were perfect, but you'll need to plan ahead, bring more items and get creative for bigger meals. Meals on the veranda were so much fun. The unit was very clean considering its location and all the netting, windows, etc were very effective at keeping the bugs outside.

I liked that Epiphyte felt that it was part of the Daintree forest. It fitted into its surroundings and not the other way around. It is managed in an ecologically sound way but everything you wanted was there. It was peaceful and the tranquility of area seeps into your bones. I only wish I could have spent a morning relaxing in the hammock. Matt and his staff were very sociable and helpful. If ever I go back to the Daintree I would stay there again.

We loved it! This was our final stay in Australia and it was 150% worth it. The place is very remote, relaxed, peaceful and in the middle of the forest. If we only knew, we would have stayed longer. This is a little peace of heaven. Lilian is great! We loved her, such a nice, one of a kind lady and host. We hope to come back soon and stay longer. The bed was cosy, big large room, great patio surrounded by nature.

Cosy settled in the rainforest with 20 meters to next cabin. Only 7 cabins, total, we had 2x since traveled with our teenage kids. This made us feel special to the wonderful staff we met, and what a kitchen. Wooho - 10 points on the dinner!

Cape Tribulation is an amazing, beautiful place.

Cape Tribulation is an amazing, beautiful place. You can walk along the long, beautiful beach with the ocean on one side and tropical rainforest on the other. When you walk back into the rainforest you are on a boardwalk which takes you through huge mangroves then through the tropical rainforest with a stunning variety of rainforest trees and other plants. You see lots of butterflies as well as birds, goannas and fruit bats. It is a place that fills you with awe.

Daintree is OK for a one-day visit.

Daintree is OK for a one-day visit. That is enough time to take in the views of the beaches and to do all the boardwalks. You need to stock up on groceries before arriving if you are self-catering - the grocery options are very limited. There is no swimming on any of the beaches.

I loved how it was close to the beach and very quiet and peaceful. With a little driving most attractions were close by or within half hour. Spending time in the Daintree was spectacular and I found most of the visitors were respectful of the tranquillity. Half an hour to Port Douglas for shopping or spending the day driving up to Cape Tribulation, river cruise, all great adventures.

We love Mossman as a quick stay on our way to the Daintree. The Woolies is great to re stock, we had pies from the lovely organic dough pie shop and were excited to be traveling through on a Saturday as Mossman markets are one of our favorites (and we’ve visited a few!)

Diwan is a one of the oldest parts of the Daintree Rainforest. Just beautiful !!! You need to catch the ferry over the river to get to the northern side to access this location. Need to be aware the cost to catch the ferry back and forth. Many things to do and see on the north side of the river to keep amused.

A very unique cottage stay.

A very unique cottage stay. Private water-hole Creek for swimming. Crystal clear water. A wonderful place to escape for peace & quiet in a tranquil setting! Amos was a thoughtful and accommodating host! Fruit trees a plenty which, if in abundant and ready for harvest, you may be offered to help yourself to some fruit.

Wonderful area with lots of natural attractions.

Wonderful area with lots of natural attractions. Highly recommended for nature lovers, hikers and anyone who wants to get away from it all. Getting away from it all includes not a whole lot of phone reception, so take a printed map. Limited groceries available so if you are self catering best to shop beforehand in Cairns or Mossman.

Loved Daintree rainforest and cape tribulation. A must see if you are heading to Cairns, Palm Cove or Port.Douglas. It’s is a world heritage site. We did indigenous tour at Mossman gorge which was great. Beautiful tropical trees and fauna. Fresh healthy air. You must do it!

Mossman is actually closer to the Daintree and Cape...

Mossman is actually closer to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation than Port Douglas, but Port is a very short drive away to be able get to reef cruises and activities there. Mossman is the old town, still with elements of 'country', check out the Exchange Hotel (there is a Woolworths on the edge of town - I wish they'd hide it behind large trees) and a regular market every Saturday (10.00 am - 1.00 pm) in the historic church grounds. It is not overwhelmed by tourism, but the surrounding areas have B&B and accommodation options. Mossman Gorge is an amazing upland rainforest experience. You get one of the mini-busses from the Visitor Info Centre (every 15 mins until 5.30 pm) This takes you to the walking trail. The first part is boardwalk, then an easy bush trail in a circuit. The forest is spectacular, very relaxing to see & hear the water of the Mossman River. Sit on the seating or a rock near the trail and wonder at the profusion of life that fills every space. TIP: Take a towel & wear swimmers, as there is a rock pool about 2/3 of or the way along the bush trail with clear fresh water, safe to wade & cool off in.
