To put it long ... Rooms: They are not new, but they were clean and fully equipped. The room temperature was exactly on the spot, and we had more than enough space. Restaurant: We had a half-board option. Indeed as other comments point out, there is not much of a choice. Nevertheless, the quality of the food was impeccable. One evening we actually wandered if the restaurant had a Michelin star. Amazing cooking, even in simple/home-style meals. (Not to mention that they have a lot of house-made stuff which tasted great). To put it simply I prefer quality over quantity, and the restaurant provided! SPA: Everything was nice and clean. The pool was warm enough, not too hot, but the kids could enjoy it without a problem. The sauna great, we used it every evening after skiing. One nice touch are the spa-towels which are provided. So you do not need to carry it from your room and back. Game rooms and others: As I have two kids, it was really important for me that they have a place to have fun. The Hotel provided a great playroom for the children. It was clean and well equipped. During our stay they did not got tired of it. On one day we even played bowling that you can find on the premises of the Hotel. They also got other activities like: pool(billiard), darts, table-football and a lot of board-games. Besides this rooms, the hotel has a nice ski room where you can leave the skis and warm the ski-boots. On top of it all, there is a quite, nice and large elevator that is a blessing after a day of skiing. Location: The location if nice, a lot of stores around.The bus stop just in front of the hotel. The Ski Area(Alpbachtal) is about 10 km away. 15 min by car. Staff: I left this part at the end, since we appreciated the Staff most. From day 1 the owner would call us by name, so did the waiter at the restaurant. It felt like home instantly. From owner, to cook, to the cleaning lady, everyone was helpful and friendly. Thank you very much for this stay.

Staying at this hotel was a one-of-a-kind experience—like spending a night in an interactive museum, where you can touch each exhibit and feel like a part of history. You can take unique photos, read old books, and gain insight into what life was like in the castle. The surroundings are peaceful and picturesque, and I loved enjoying the mountain view through the window. Our stay was comfortable—the room was clean and fully equipped, and the breakfast was varied and nourishing. The Wi-Fi was occasionally slow, but it turned out to be a perfect opportunity for a digital detox. While having a car might be more convenient, we traveled by train, and reaching the castle on foot from the nearest station or by bus was not a problem. Overall, my expectations were exceeded, and I highly recommend spending a holiday at Matzen Castle.

This hotel exceeded all of our expectations . The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food in the hotel was amazing and there was so much variety . We didn’t need for anything while we stayed here. The hotel is in a great location and the bus collected us for the ski lift every morning . I could not say enough nice things about this hotel. I would recommend anyone to stay here. It caters for couples and families. We will definitely be back.

delicious and elegant food, looked like a Michelin restaurant, good wines, very good quality products for breakfast, excellent restaurant service during breakfast and dinner. New Year's Eve dinner delicious and exceeded our expectations, then a party with dj music, we had a great time, thank you and best regards

Very friendly staff - uncomplicated check in. Family room large ( double bed , bunk bed , and good size entry and bathroom) , simple and clean . Good value for money. We had HP - great choices for breakfast and 2 dinner choices , including vegetarian . All very friendly .

Such a beautiful location between mountain ranges, family style ownership and super friendly staff. The restaurant had great food and the rooms were super cosy. Beds were so comfy and it was nice and quiet at night. We had a great stay!

Absolutely fantastic-everything was great: room, super friendly staff, convenient parking, superb breakfast & dinner, spa with steam bath and outside sauna. We would love to be back :)

The farm is gorgeous , so neat and beautiful 😍 Also we strongly recommend Fischertube restaurant nearby, fish dishes are delicious. the place is great for a hideaway holiday)

very good equipped hotel, with good kitchen and a nice bar area. Perfect location in the middle of the village, the ski bus stop is just next to the property
