A charming and romantic hotel perched on a hill above Ushuaia, just an 8-minute drive or taxi ride from the city centre. We chose this hotel for its stunning location and breath-taking views—and it did not disappoint. Room: Spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully arranged, with a magnificent view of the Beagle Channel. Wi-Fi: Exceptionally reliable, making it easy to stay connected. Staff: Warm, welcoming, and proficient in English, ensuring a smooth and pleasant stay. Parking: Free of charge. While the parking area isn’t very large, we always found a spot. Restaurant: Outstanding! The service was excellent, and the cuisine was delicious. We booked dinner one evening and were absolutely delighted with our experience. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway or a relaxing stay in Ushuaia!

The property and communal areas are stunning! The room was lovely and clean and had all the usual facilities. We enjoyed spending time in the spa and you can also have lunch/afternoon tea in the spa. All the staff were exceptionally attentive and incredibly friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant is fabulous. We went on the boat to see the sealions and penguins which was amazing, well worth the money as you are on a little boat as appose to a ferry. We got very close to both animals and saw an enormous star fish! Our guide Lucas was exceptional and was very generous us telling us a ton of history about Ushuaia. The cost of the hotel is high but it was worth it for the views and the communal areas and service received.

Rio Grande is another industrial Argentinian city that provides a place to stop along Ruta 3 on your way to or from Ushuaia. The city itself has limited attractions for tourists, other than some interesting museums, including one dedicated to veterans of the Malvinas (Falklands) war. The city beaches are not too inviting, with strong winds and currents dissuading any bathers on the mid-summer day I visited. I dined at a local cafe called Tante Sara Cafe & Resto just off the main Avenue San Martin. Food was nice and the service friendly, but like the rest of Argentina, not so cheap! A steak roll and a beer cost about US$23. I only stayed one for day, and I think that is about the right amount of time.

The end of the world is well worth a visit.

The end of the world is well worth a visit. If you don't plan to go skiing, 3-4 days are enough to see the main spots. I wouldn't recommend a longer stay as there is not that much to see. Great restaurants available, I would definitely recommend Paso Garibaldi, amazing dinner there. You need to do a boat tour of Beagle canal, seeing the Sea lions, penguins, birds, Faro Les Eclaireurs, it's a must. Nice hike up to Glaciar Martial. The Train of the end of the world and the National Park are great adventures. Overall, a great trip I would recommend, but I preferred other spots in Patagonia, especially Bariloche.

We went in the winter, so days are shorter (sunrise closer to 9am) and dark by 5:30. There is a lot to see and do, and very worth while and unlesse you are planning to ski, 3 days is enough. Keep in mind that tours (in the winter) have pick-ups around 8am, so bookings must be made in advance or the day before (once you arrive). We waited to book to see weather conditions. There is a lot to see and do!
