1.2 km from La Estacion Beach in Puerto Ayora, La Fortaleza De Haro features accommodation with access to a hot tub and public bath. This unique location — a fortress — offered superb accommodation for my tour group. The Tower room offered excellent opportunities for morning birdwatching; all rooms were clean; staff were very friendly and helpful with offers of maps, local sights, and opportunity for local activity bookings; breakfast was served fresh and promptly each morning; and the location is in a quieter and secure neighbourhood (El Eden). This was by far the favourite accommodation among tour guests compared with two other similarly priced locations in Galapagos (Santa Cruz and Isabela). I cannot say enough good things about La Fortaleza and look forward to returning with more guests in the future. A big thanks to hosts Gianna and Roberto!

Set 500 metres from Puerto Villamil Beach, Galápagos Isabela Hotel Loja offers an indoor pool, a garden and air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi. Hostel Loja is a comfy, clean stay with great value. Rooms are pretty basic but spotless, and I loved having a big bathroom! It's also nice having a coffee shop on the premises. Diego was a wonderfully accommodating host – he was very quick and helpful when I had some special requests – and he makes a great breakfast :)

El Barranco Galapagos has free bikes, outdoor swimming pool, a garden and bar in Puerto Ayora. This 4-star hotel offers a tour desk and luggage storage space. Very nice location on a quiet side street, but real close to the docks. Breakfast is buffet style with eggs/omelette to order. Breakfast starts early, which gives you a chance to eat and still catch early day trips.
