When I booked it, I did so knowing that OIA was not super close to the town and I did that in hopes that it would be quiet...... and it was. It took me 25 - 30 minutes to walk into either town or to the main foreigner hangout / restaurant area, but there is also a single restaurant and basic grocery store only a block away. I was there during Typhoon Tino and fortunately, no damage at all to the house. The lady working at the front desk was also friendly and helpful.
