The nearest airport is Bari Karol Wojtyla Airport, 54 km from the property. The location was tricky to get to, but that is not the hotel's fault. They are accessible only by foot due to the way the ancient town was built. I received excellent recommendations from the hotel about parking for our rental car. There is a secure parking building about 15 minutes walk away that cost 20 euro per day, although this is not the only option. The reception staff were excellent and organised for our luggage to be taken to our room - much appreciated considering the cobbled paths around the hotel. The room was large, quiet and well appointed. The included continental breakfast was adequate and the spa facilities were a nice addition.

With inner courtyard views, this accommodation provides a patio. The accommodation offers a hot tub, free WiFi and family rooms. This is a fabulous cave hotel!!! Our room was incredible with a fabulous jacuzzi. You cannot beat the location. We looked at numerous cave hotels and decided with this one. It was just perfect! We highly recommend it.

Local points of interest like MUSMA Museum and Church of San Giovanni Battista are reachable within 400 metres and a 1-minute walk, respectively. La Casa di Ele was a complete surprise. The room where we stayed for two nights was outstanding and brand new. Actually, it was more a small private house than a room, with two adjacent living rooms, two bathrooms, one of them behind the bed very large and futuristic with several sources of water and including changing lights. The room is typical of Matera, almost with no windows. The door is right in one of Matera streets so you immediately walk into the amazing site of Matera. This room is outside the main building where the other guest are and where breakfast is served. The breakfast is very good. All the staff very helpful and educated. The property belongs to a family, several of the member manage it.

Breakfast was abundant, and the staff were all incredibly warm and welcoming. A wonderful stay overall!

Set next to the Parco della Murgia Natural Reserve, the property is 50 km from the Ionian Sea. The best stay of our trip! Such a special place in the heart of the beautiful Matera. We were warmly welcomed after our taxi ride booked by the hotel. Anne explained us everything about Matera with great recommendations! She showed us to our beautiful room in an old matera house. The hotel has an amazing aesthetic that resonates well with the city. The breakfast is also very much appreciated with nice music.
