We have probably never had a friendlier, more helpful, more welcoming or more committed host than Brian. He's a great guy who impressed us even in the communication before our stay. After our arrival he gave us a very helpful map of the peninsula and recommended great sights, walks and places to eat. The accommodation is exceptionally lovingly furnished and overall excellently equipped - with a lot of character. There is free milk for tea and coffee (even from the machine) and also orange juice in the fridge. Other non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks can be taken from the fridge at reasonable prices. There was also a fruit basket. You can also order baked goods. We enjoyed wonderfully tasty scones (5€). Thanks to Orla, Brian's wife! The location of the accommodation is wonderfully secluded and quiet, and it is perfect for exploring the peninsula. The view from the front window is priceless. Maybe important to know for some people: There is quite a steep staircase to the bed. There is a fully equipped kitchen but no dining table. We had a very nice stay and would love to come back any time.

We had such a lovely stay at Majella’s home. We are bike packers and were able to keep our bicycles secure in her garage. Her guest room was very generous in size and we were able to stretch out and relax whilst taking in the beautiful views of the surrounding hills from the large windows. The bathroom was huge and very clean. Majella left us ample products for breakfast including delicious fruit and yoghurt as well as cereal and bread for roasting.

The warm cosy country feel. Fire was lit on arrival and complementary apple tart milk bread and more. Even supplied us with as much turf wood and fire lighters to ensure we were warm our entire stay.

The Rose of the Sea felt like home. In the warm and comforting sense. Even our 3 year old toddler called it holiday-home whenever we got in the car to drive back. And he was always looking forward of seeing Ann, the hostess and heart of the house. She made us feel welcome and was always open for questions as well as a little chat. Be it with us or our little boy. Thank you Ann for the amazing stay and your guidance in exploring the mayo. We fell in love with this, very pure and old corner of Ireland.
