It was the perfect farm experience. We were travelling for one month through Costa Rica and this place was simply magical. It was a real local experience, no other tourists around. The Mendez family, especially Ana, offered a great hospitality. The breakfast was delicious. We spent also time at the pool and with the many animals that the farm has to offer. Ana was also teaching me how to cook with woods and fire. The whole area is very peaceful and has a great variety of trees and flowers. From the farm you can see the Turrialba volcano, which was always a stunning view.

The place is really exceptional. The appartment is fully equipped and very comfortable. It is located close to a river, surrounded by nature. It is an absolutely amazing place for birdwatching (sunbitterns, green ibis, tiger herons, manakins, etc.). We saw more than 80 different bird species!. The owners have made some paths in both sides of the river, and the house care taker knows well where to find specific birds- for instance, we visited the lekking place of the white collared manakin.

With mountain views, Pacuare Mountain Lodge is situated in Tres Equis and has a restaurant, a tour desk, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace.

A perfect stop over between Pura Vida Ecolodge and Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean side. We were met with open arms and warm smiles and were incredibly well looked after throughout our short stay. It genuinely felt like we were at home... Incredibly friendly and helpful staff and a really beautiful set up, stunning views, wonderfully kept gardens and basic but comfortable cabins. They even managed to make some tweaks in the kitchen in order to offer us a super tasty vegan evening meal and very yummy breakfast. Gracias Antonio y amigos, we'll be back and for longer next time - seems like there is SO much to explore in the area!

I really can’t rate this place high enough! Leopoldo is an excellent host, and the house is just perfect. Easy to cook and prepare food, with decent equipment. It’s very rustic, remote and peaceful. The views of the town are spectacular. The fog/mist/cloud that decent on the place is a sight to behold. I’ve never stayed in a place where you can open the door and walk into fog!! For Breakfast Leopoldo supplied a tray of eggs, a large bunch of bananas, a loaf of bread, melons, apples and a pineapple. perfect for two adults and two kids for five days. The fire place was so nice, it was the perfect place to have one, and thankfully fire wood was supplied by the host. The drive to the house from the main road is rather difficult. You DEFINITELY need to have a 4x4 or at least a AWD vehicle. We had a Suzuki Vitara which was perfect for it, but the clearance was only just enough, as we scraped the underneath once or twice.
