Located within 7.2 km of Iwafune Shrine and 10 km of Nozaki Kannon Shrine, Shionome house provides rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Ikoma. I didn't expect it to be so but it was the BEST place I stayed during my 3 month trip to Japan. The owner is super friendly and helpful, same goes for the family members, I felt very welcome there, like a distant relative on vacation;) The breakfasts were delicious. The house itself is really beautiful, clean, and very close to the train station. It's very easy to get to all the Nara sightseeing spots. I cannot recommend this amazing place enough. If you hesitate - don't, you have found the best place to stay at around Nara:)

Novotel Nara is an excellent hotel. They gave me a great room on the 7th floor with a huge bed and nice bathroom and other facilities. The hotel is located near the conference center where I went every day so this was a bonus. The breakfast was a nice mix of Japanese and western delicacies. However, I only tried it once so I can't say much more.

The property is around 9.1 km from Higashiosaka Hanazono Rugby Stadium, 12 km from Nippon Christ Kyodan Shijonawate Church and 12 km from Shijonawate City Museum of History and Folklore. The ryokan has family rooms. A traditional ryokan in the most authentic location. An easy walk from the local train, and well situate for a trip to the local temple, which is well worth a visit. The host was most friendly, and a very wonderful person. The onsen is great and has easy to follow instructions for tourists available. The view over the city at night was truly marvelous. We extended our stay.

Set within 29 km of Subaru Hall and 40 km of Saifuku-ji Temple, 奈良五條の宿 彩 irodori offers rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Gojō. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The accommodation features a 24-hour front desk, a shared kitchen and luggage storage for guests. The bedroom was spacious, part of a larger house. We were the only guests and had use of all the facilities- being able to wash and dry clothes overnight was very useful. The owner of the house was exceptionally helpful - she drove us around and we took her to dinner in the evening and she took us to her favorite bar. It was fun to have our own guide and interesting to talk to her about the area. She also drove us to the station the next morning. Definitely a cultural experience!
