This is a beautiful place located in a serene and quite tea estate. You look out onto greenery and it instantly brings you close to nature. There's a beautiful forest of rubber trees close by, and you can take a bike ride or walk though it. The host is wonderful, kind, and hospitable. And they cooked great food. Come here if you want to get away from Colombo for a bit, or need some time in nature.

The property was well maintained by Anton who did all the turnover service during our stay. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to order meals through him throughout our stay. We were able to try out all the traditional Sri Lankan food and everything was presented beautifully and tasted delicious! The rooms were large and clean, so was the rest of the villa. The pool was well looked after so a great source of fun for the kids! The area was very convenient for our visit and the owners were also nice enough to help us with a later checkout due to our night flights. Great service, great villa, fab holiday spot that served us well during our stay in Sri Lanka.

The Manager Damith and team will do everything they can possibly do to make your stay comfortable as they did to me. Do not forget to ask the captain Sandun for whatever you may like for your tastes from the kitchen and it will be served in classic style along with a warm and friendly chat about plethora of topics! Gem Fields Rest Hotel has got to be the most convenient hotel for anyone passing through or staying in Rathnapura. Whether you are travelling by car or public transport the hotel works well being just a short walk from the town centre. At the same time it is far enough away from the hubbub to feel calm, almost rural. Bhanu is a fabulous host who goes out of his way to ensure his guests enjoy their stay. Brilliant breakfasts which can be provided to personal taste are served on the lovely balcony overlooking the garden. Bhanu is a wealth of information on local sights and the Sri Lankan culture in general. For the gem aficianado he will point you in the right direction and alert you to the do's and don'ts of negotiation.

We were greeted with the warmest, most genuine smiles, which immediately made us feel at ease. The staff are the true heart of this place. They are incredibly attentive, professional, and seem to anticipate your needs before you even ask. Every request is met with a "can-do" attitude and a warmth that feels truly special. The Room & Views: Our room is a beautifully designed haven of comfort and style. It's proper and clean, with thoughtful amenities and one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in. And the view... wow! Waking up and looking out over the breathtaking landscape is a magical experience that a photo could never fully capture. The hotel's name, "Ahas Gawwa" (The Horizon), is perfectly fitting. You truly feel like you're floating above the world. Ambiance & Atmosphere: The entire property exudes a sense of peace and tranquility. It's the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The architecture blends beautifully with the stunning natural surroundings, creating an atmosphere that is both luxurious and deeply relaxing. The Food: Every meal has been a culinary delight! The chefs are clearly passionate about what they do, using fresh, high-quality ingredients to create dishes that are both delicious and beautifully presented. We've enjoyed a fantastic array of both local Sri Lankan flavours and international cuisine. Overall: We cannot recommend Ahas Gawwa highly enough. Our 3-night stay has been a dream, and our only regret is that we will eventually have to leave.

The hotel is new, close to the main road but in a peaceful street, the room has fan and AC. I slept in a big, strong and confortable bed. The bathroom and room have modern furnishings and both are more than clean! Eranga was really kind and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel. Thank you 🪷

Beautiful hotel with modern clean rooms and an immaculate swimming pool surrounded by jungle scenery. Most importantly, the staff did whatever was needed to make our stay enjoyable. The English Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of fruit and fresh juice. One day we had an early trip with a local guide Sampa Wayo and the breakfast was prepared for us in takeaway containers. Another day we fancied red wine and the staff purchased and delivered one for us immediately. Thank you!
