The hotel is set in a romantic garden of coconut palms and has a clean swimming pool big enough to take a few swimming strokes and relax aching legs after a day exploring pagodas and archaeological remains. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, clean, as was the bathroom. The staff is very friendly and tries to ensure a pleasant stay for the guests. There is also a restaurant in the garden, which serves very good breakfast and dinner. We would definitely come back.

Lakmali's home is a real paradise in the Sri Lankan jungle. The rooms are basic but very clean with comfortable beds equipped with a mosquito net. The garden is beautiful, you can see a lot of jungle plants and small animals, and Lakmali's family is incredibly kind!!! We love the beauty and calmness. Quiet. Birdsong and bird watching. Frogs at night chirping. Lovely simple design of the rooms looking out to simple gardens and trees full of nesting birds. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed! Jonti was always attentive, he kept the place clean and tidy, a kind soul to chat with! I enjoyed cooking and sharing food with my roommates, and just chilling out in the common area. Watching animals coming and going in the garden was fun - mongoose, monkey, parrot, Bengali monitor, woodpecker, kingfisher, hornbill, etc. Two minutes walk to the lake for sunrise/sunset. Truly a gem in Anuradhapura!

Emerald home stay is run by a wonderful family who couldn't do anymore for you if they tried. They have four beautiful rooms next to their home. The rooms are brand new, only just built and are exceptionally clean, spacious and modern. The beds are huge and all bedding is brand new and so comfortable. The bathrooms are equipped with hot water and a power shower. The facilities are fantastic, including an electric kettle, flat screen TV and air con. After completing a Vipassana up the road I was searching for some luxury and Emerald home stay did not disappoint! I ended up extending my stay here and I didn't want to ever leave! Thank you so much to the amazing family who went above and beyond. Giving me lifts to and from the bus stand just to make sure I was safe as a female solo traveller. Greeting me of an evening with fresh juice and even bringing me a special breakfast of milk rice on new years day!

The owner was so lovely and diligent in making sure we had a comfortable stay. He also made us breakfast ready at 430am to take with us to the safari, including coffee in an insulated flask. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The small touches like including a mosquito coil at our table at our second breakfast was much appreciated!

Quiet residential street, big room, comfortable beds, very clean, screens on the windows, nice hot shower with great pressure. No breakfast or restaurant onsite. We were very happy with the supper and breakfast at Seedevi Family Restaurant, located just around the corner on the main road.
