With Ruta de los volcanos we really found a hidden gem! Darwin was an excellent host and is really talented. First and foremost he is an exceptional chef and prepared the best dinner for us that we had an our entire trip in Ecuador. We expected very simple food as the place is very remote but learned that he is known for his great cuisine in the entire area! And on top of that he was so helpful with the planning for our hiking. We went on a very tough hiking trip up to the peak of Rumiñahui and Darwin showed us the route on the map with a lot of patience. For Cotopaxi he organized a guide including transport and for both days we got an excellent lunch box provided. All came at a reasonable cost. There is free drinking water which you can fill your bottles with and all requests we had were fulfilled with care and joy. We almost felt like part of the family. Our room had an excellent view and the location is really ideal for hiking or any other activity around and on the volcanos. The fire in the evening was so cozy to relax and recover from a day in the mountains. We highly recommend Ruta de Los Volcanos and would certainly stay here again if we were back in the area! Thank you, Darwin and family, for making us feel like home far away from our home 😊

Aracely and her husband were such lovely and friendly people. They made us feel very welcome and at home. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay and experience a stay in this refuge. My children loved Aracely s pets too..

- the staff, Diego was very helpful in giving us advice on which tours to book - the breakfast was good - the location was good - we felt safe inside the locked gate - free water station to fill up our bottles - the room was spacious - the blankets were cozy enough to keep us warm all throughout the cold nights in Machachi

Lovely environment, with alpacas and other animals, the staff very nice and helpful and lovely food - really lovely modern cuisine.

Wow this place was special! Staff were lovely and very efficient at arranging my stay. The location is very peaceful (you really are in the middle of nature) and the lodge and rooms are very beautifully decorated. The log burner in the rooms was very cosy and appreciated as it gets very cold. The ponchos too were a nice touch and were very handy when being outside. I also enjoyed two tours - the Cotopaxi park one as well as horse riding and staff help arranged transfers for me from Quito and then onto Baños. A special thanks to Jesica and Eugenia!

Frank is an amazing host! He helped us so much with planning of the trips around. ( El Corazón, Iliniza Norte, Cotopaxi....) Chaupi was our base camp for the acclimatization in mountains in Ecuador. We spent in Frank hostal amazing one week and I can definitely say, that it was the best decision stay in Ilinizas Wasi. You can use a kitchen, pat their dog and cats, use the washing machine. Frank even helped us with booking a guide for Cotopaxi and he recommended us great guide Marco. ( From 8 groups we were the only ones, who reached the summit.) I recommend this place 10/10.!
