Amazing hotel - location is perfect, just 3-4 minutes walk from Kyoto Station, so very convenient to check in and out not rushing for Shinkansen. Separately would mention breakfast - that is something special! Big variety of different meals for each taste including traditional Japanese cuisine, everything is super delicious.

The Onsen was just perfect, it was one of the top experiences I had during the trip, and it was inside the hotel. The breakfast was a buffet, which was a perfect way to try many meals at once.

Beautifully furnished and styled. Comfortable bed. Amazing shower. Both hand held and rainfall shower. Free toiletries smelled amazing. The provided body towel for scrubbing were amazing on the skin. Just a beautiful place to relax after a big day of exploring. Onsen was lovely and view from rooftop bar was stunning. Being able to soak your feet with a drink at the end of a long day was great.

The staff was very helpful, the massage chair is just out of this world and the onsen was really nice.

We had a fantastic time during the two nights that we stayed at this Ryokan. Hachi-san and his family are lovely people and went absolutely above and beyond to make our stay not only memorable but in fact unforgettable. When comparing the food to the other Ryokans and Minshukus we stayed at we felt that here it was the highest quality and also everything was explained to us clearly and proactively, how to enjoy all the different dishes. Hachi-san took many great photos of us and even gave us a lift to the train station when we checked out. Luggage forwarding worked great aswell.

We love this place. It is very peaceful and a nice 15 minute walk to many restaurants and beach. The staff made us feel so welcome. The bakery is top notch. I have had very delicious baked goods in multiple European countries, and this is right up there. We thought at first the mattress was a little firm(this seems standard in Japan), but ended up sleeping well.

Building was newly renovated and combined traditional with modern minimalist vibes. Location was perfect center of town and next door to Jizoyu onsen. Staff were outstanding hosts spoke English and always available to assist. Breakfast was excellent and varied from daily. Featuring koshihikari rice made in a donabe and fresh egg for TKG!The private onsen and sauna were excellent. If you have never stayed in a traditional Onsen Ryokan, Akaishiya will spoil you and be your reference point going forward.
