Silk sand and crystal clear water! Sook Peng and Fred are wonderful and kind hosts who help to ensure a brilliant stay. They help to organize all the travel arrangements from your lodgings in Kota Kinabalu to the island via car and boat, and it all worked seamlessly. The food that Sook Peng cooked was simply fantastic and some of the best I have had during my whole trip. The lodge is very unique and they take their environmental responsibility very seriously. Staying on the island is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s completely deserted apart from a small village and there are lots of different activities one can do. (Kayak, snorkel, diving, guided walks). We did bonfires at night and spent the days in hammocks just meters from the beach as the local island cows wandered past.

Asian and halal breakfast options are available at the lodge. At Hawun Valley Kiulu you will find a restaurant serving Asian cuisine. A halal option can also be requested. Didn’t expect the room come with little pantry with ricecooker, water kettle, and stove to cook. Plates, cups and utensil for cooking also provided. But they only allow Halal food ya. There is fridge also. Room is very clean and love the sweet pink color room😆 pool is not too deep and have lovely warm temperature. This place is well maintain.

This property features rooms that provide towels and bed linen. The en suite bathroom comes with free toiletries. What an amazing place! Yes, you need a level of fitness that will get you up and down 600 stairs multiple times but it's worth it. Only 4 rooms, so it's private. Rooms are functional, thoughful and clean. Food was fantastic (the reviews about the amazing banana pancakes are correct). Opt to do the additional morning boat ride if you can, it's totally worth it and beautiful on the river in the mornings. Since there are a maximum of 8 guests, the boat is a lot roomier than the other boats you see from larger lodges. Each trip is 2 hours (walk from the lodge to the boat about 12 mins each way). If you can't live without the internet, get a local eSIM before you come. You get signal in the dining area. Ryan was a great guide. We saw an orangutan as we arrived at the lodge, lots of proboscis monkeys, crocodiles, macaques (pigtail and long tail) along the river. Heaps of birdlife. I can't say enough about Jason. He started the lodge from nothing over 20 years ago. His passion for the area is inspiring. We had some great conversations during the transfer and at the lodge. I required urgent medical attention at the end of our stay and Jason was outsanding in his care for me. He is one of a kind and enough of a reason to stay here.

Bayu Senja Lodge features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kundasang.

The lodge offers a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, a hairdryer and bidet. For added convenience, the property can provide towels and bed linen for an extra charge. Amazing view with balcony overlooking southern mountains and hills from my room. Tidy & clean, with a decent restaurant on-site so not necessary to drive out to eat. Toiletries are sufficient. Thoughtful details in the room. Pleasantly surprised to find this in such a location.

At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Chinese, Malaysian and Grill BBQ cuisine. Vegetarian and halal options can also be requested. The staff really go out of their way to make your stay special. The guide is knowledgeable and makes every effort to find memorable wildlife encounters. This is our second time staying here and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive jungle experience in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The lodge offers a sun terrace. What a holidays I passed at maglami! I missed Maglami as soon as I left! The staff are cheerful and very friendly, available and caring for all travellers. Thank you so much for the few days I spent in your company, they were my best days in Malaysia! I'll be back to say hello every time I return to Malaysia. Thanks a lot for every maglami's members!
