The best part is the excellent location and the host. Anjelo went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. He is a very charming guy. It was great to relax on the patio outside the bedroom and read and listen to the birds. A very unique experience. It is easy to walk to Ella for dinner and walk to beautiful areas like Adams Peak and The Nine Arch bridge from Tantra Ella Lodge.

Nethsara cottage is absolutely gorgeous - beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and in a rural, quiet spot in the hills above Ella. Delicious breakfasts are served on the balcony that has amazing views of the valley and the Mahamevnawa Monastery in the distance. Madusha is a lovely host, organising tuktuks on our request. We were so sad to leave and couldn’t recommend it more!

Everything was just perfect!! We have been there for 4 nights. Devaka and his family have been so nice and the food (breakfast & dinner) was really good. Devaka took us to a tea factory which was very interesting and also gave us a lot of helpful tips for the hikes and other stuff to do around. Room was small but had everything, also very confortable beds. The shower was also hot, what is very nice when it‘s a bit colder. The place was perfect, far away from the chaotic Ella but close enough to the train station. Thanks again to Devaka and his family. Highly recommended to stay there!!

Lovely cottage, very private with stunning views and well situated for climbing Ella’s Rock. Very sweet family who cooked us lovely food and had an on-site tuk tuk for ease of driving us into town as the son has one. It was lovely to be away from the madness of the town but near enough to pop in for dinner if we felt like it. Loved watching the birds and monkeys in the forest around the cottage. Comfortable bed. Excellent Wi-Fi.

Featuring a garden and free WiFi, Arana Sri Lanka Eco Lodge and Yoga Center is situated in Ella, 3 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge. Amazing place, breathtaking views! We realized the moment that we checked in that we SHOULD have booked for two nights (or more) not one. I would have loved to have attended the cooking and yoga classes and simply enjoyed the majestic location.

This has been our best stay in Sri Lanka without doubt. Renu is an incredibly inspiring woman, mother and co-owner who will do everything in her power to make your stay intimate, comfortable and convenient. She puts an umbrella in front of your door when it rains; she looks out the window to see how far you are to prepare breakfast; she brings everything to your table and removes it quietly. Not to mention the room, with its high double roofed ceiling that makes you feel like you’re in a nest on a treetop. It’s spacious, spotless clean (no sign of dump despite daily rain in Ella) and everything works perfectly, even though it’s literally a hanging cottage. The view from the bed/balcony is breathtaking and different every day, and you even see the famous train passing at your feet. DIGITAL NOMADS: we had quite good wifi, enough for videocalls most times of the day, but bring a sim card with data just in case.
