Some units feature a terrace and / or a patio with sea or garden views. We had a fantastic time on Mantanani Island. Superb location, right on the beach, no other hotels in the area. We were spoiled by Fred's wife (owner) who is in charge of the food. As vegetarians, we could not find a better place! No other restaurants in the area tough. Kayaks and snorkeling gear available, which we recommend. Nice walk to the nearby village too. Swimming in the sea here is very nice, no strong currents. Transfer is well arranged. Pick up (early!) in your hotel in KK, boat is waiting to bring you to the island and visa versa.

A sun terrace and a private beach area can be found at Tammoyo Place, along with a garden. Really friendly, hard working and down to earth family who want to make your stay as good as possible. The location is amazing and you can truly disconnect if you'd like. You can also find a balance and enjoy being in the middle of nowhere by the sea yet have wifi to still call your family or do some work. It's the best balance. The cabins are right on the beach so we spent most of our time chilling outside on the beds watching the sea, listening to music and sometimes cooling off by going for a quick dip. It's like a little disconnected paradise.

Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan.

This property features rooms that provide towels and bed linen. The en suite bathroom comes with free toiletries. A boutique resort on top of the hill with good views. This resort is well maintained and clean. The team is helpful and friendly, and the food was delicious with good mix of local and western. We had an amazing stay and river cruises with them.

Bayu Senja Lodge features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kundasang.

The lodge offers a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, a hairdryer and bidet. For added convenience, the property can provide towels and bed linen for an extra charge. We stayed at this lodge for one night. It's very nice and comfortable lodge especially the room with balcony. It's beyond my expectations. Very clean and tidy room. The toilet is also very clean, shower and heater works properly and great. The view from this lodge is very amazing although mount Kinabalu is not at our side but the view is still very nice and amazing. Overall, Bayu Senja Lodge ( especially the room with balcony ) is very nice, good and comfortable to stay. The management should build more room like this in the future. Once the lodge canteen starts operating, the lodge has become much better place to choose for staying.

At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Chinese, Malaysian and Grill BBQ cuisine. Vegetarian and halal options can also be requested. The rooms are ok, but really in the middle of the jungle and just in front of the river The best part about the place is Lynda, she is like a living documentary she just wanted to show us all the animals in there and we saw them, Rhyno hornbill, elephants, crocodile and basically all the kind of monkeys we could see, just an amazing experience with her being the best guide possible The food was really good too and also the experiences out of the normal package I really recommend the night cruise, is something amazing being in that river in a small boat at night Loved it! Vegetarian, dairy-free and halal options can also be requested. Beautiful resort and great value for money. Large, comfy beds and clean bathrooms. Food is of good standard, and location is amazing, being in-between the RDC and Orangutan and Sunbear Sanctuaries (as long as you are happy being in the middle of nowhere). Good wifi connection and signal, and amazing staff members

Located in Kundasang in the Sabah region, Nulu View Cabin provides accommodation with free private parking.

Some accommodation includes a terrace with mountain views, a fully equipped kitchen and a private bathroom with bidet. Not only was the view from the room amazing, but the lady checking us in and out was so kind and helpful.

Featuring sea views, Maglami-lami Water House in Semporna features accommodation and a restaurant.

There is a private bathroom with bidet in all units, along with free toiletries and slippers.

The lodge offers a sun terrace. Everything was perfect – from our stunning sea-view room to the warm, welcoming staff who made us feel at home. Waking up to that turquoise water every morning was magical! The food was fresh and tasty, with lots of variety. We loved the island hopping and snorkeling – swimming with turtles and exploring vibrant reefs was unforgettable. Relaxing, beautiful, and full of adventures – we didn’t want to leave! Can’t wait to return.

Located in Kudat, Tampat do Aman provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a terrace and a restaurant.

If you would like to discover the area, hiking is possible in the surroundings and the lodge can arrange a car rental service. Howard was so passionate and informative, he went above and beyond to make this a great stay for us. Nothing was too much trouble and his family were so welcoming and hospitable. The lodges are a great location in the jungle, but also a 25 minute walk to the beach. It's an interesting but also peaceful environment to spend a few days exploring the area. The beach walk recommend by Howard was amazing, it's like paradise!
