We had a fantastic time on Mantanani Island. Superb location, right on the beach, no other hotels in the area.
We were spoiled by Fred's wife (owner) who is in charge of the food. As vegetarians, we could not find a better place! No other restaurants in the area tough.
Kayaks and snorkeling gear available, which we recommend. Nice walk to the nearby village too.
Swimming in the sea here is very nice, no strong currents.
Transfer is well arranged. Pick up (early!) in your hotel in KK, boat is waiting to bring you to the island and visa versa.

Really friendly, hard working and down to earth family who want to make your stay as good as possible. The location is amazing and you can truly disconnect if you'd like. You can also find a balance and enjoy being in the middle of nowhere by the sea yet have wifi to still call your family or do some work. It's the best balance. The cabins are right on the beach so we spent most of our time chilling outside on the beds watching the sea, listening to music and sometimes cooling off by going for a quick dip. It's like a little disconnected paradise.

We stayed at this lodge for one night. It's very nice and comfortable lodge especially the room with balcony. It's beyond my expectations. Very clean and tidy room. The toilet is also very clean, shower and heater works properly and great.
The view from this lodge is very amazing although mount Kinabalu is not at our side but the view is still very nice and amazing.
Overall, Bayu Senja Lodge ( especially the room with balcony ) is very nice, good and comfortable to stay. The management should build more room like this in the future. Once the lodge canteen starts operating, the lodge has become much better place to choose for staying.

The rooms are ok, but really in the middle of the jungle and just in front of the river
The best part about the place is Lynda, she is like a living documentary she just wanted to show us all the animals in there and we saw them, Rhyno hornbill, elephants, crocodile and basically all the kind of monkeys we could see, just an amazing experience with her being the best guide possible
The food was really good too and also the experiences out of the normal package
I really recommend the night cruise, is something amazing being in that river in a small boat at night
Loved it!
Thanks Lynda, thanks Nine, thanks tenten!

Food is of good standard, and location is amazing, being in-between the RDC and Orangutan and Sunbear Sanctuaries (as long as you are happy being in the middle of nowhere). Good wifi connection and signal, and amazing staff members

The lodges are a great location in the jungle, but also a 25 minute walk to the beach. It's an interesting but also peaceful environment to spend a few days exploring the area. The beach walk recommend by Howard was amazing, it's like paradise!

Great location, nearby the orangutan rehabilitation center and Forest. Resort has wonderful walkways to spot wildlife and relax in the communal areas. We where able to visit nearby lodges for great food and atmosphere within a short walking distance too
The female dorm was great, comfortable & clean. The lodge is a short walk from all of the activities in Sepilok and they can help you reserve the Rainforest center night walk, which books up. The food in the restaurant was good and not as expensive as some of the other lodges in Sepilok.
Lodges were spacious cool clean and brand new bathrooms. Resort location is perfect. Much quieter than the other resorts.
Stayed one night. Rustic charming lodges with all facilities. Helpful staff, great lounge/restaurant sitting area. Can have a meal or a drink there and buy supplies of water etc. Fantastic location for Orangutan rehabilitation centre and Sun Bear centre both next door to each other 10 minutes walk from the property. No bags even small ones allowed in Orangutan centre but free lockers provided. Swimming pool closes at 17.30 Great jungle walkways around the site
Beautiful location, amazing lodges, lots of local wildlife all around us!
Perfect location for walking to the Rainforest Discover Centre and Orangutan Sanctuary. The complex is quite large with multiple lodges. The room was comfortable and large with AC and fan. The breakfast is okay and there is a restaurant which serves food until 8pm. You can pre order for eating after the RDC night safari.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. The lodges are situated within the Kinabalu park so you wake up to a breathtaking scenery of the mountain. It gets chilly in the evening and early morning. Our large king bed was super comfy. Breakfast was decent.
