Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.

Secluded, shaded lodge that feels safe. Simple accommodation and a good choice simple meals - local recipes and ingredients. Not far from the beach. Very few people; peaceful. Good for birding: lots of ospreys (in February).

Our stay at Little's was very special. We were practically the only guests, and welcomed more like friends or family. The location is well out of the tourist-mad Senegambia area, and really did feel like a retreat. The restaurant at Nemasu lodge was a lovely walk down the empty beach. Breakfast was wonderful every morning, and we also had dinner each night, of delicious fresh fish, cooked in the outdoor kitchen. Little has a guide on staff to bring tourists out on fishing trips on the river.
