The Urban Rose Hotel is certainly a 'Rose' in the middle of the City. The staff, as all reviews state, are exceptionally friendly. They stand back and let you use the lift first, they carry your bags, smile and say hello, nothing is too much trouble. They're wonderful and made our four night stay unforgettable. The breakfast was delicious. Each day there were differing varieties of curries and accompaniments. Of course there was a good selection of fresh fruit, toast and cereals or freshly made omelettes. All served with a smile by the ever helpful waiting staff. Our room was large and spacious with a kitchen, sitting room, bedroom, shower and toilet. There were two air-conditioning units and three ceiling fans, so keeping cool was a breeze. The room was clean and serviced each day with all toiletries being replenished as required. The restaurant is, open in the evening and on Saturday night there is an all you can eat buffet. The hotel is well positioned for all the sights of the City and around a half an hour taxi ride from the airport, traffic willing. All in all a great place to stay in Dar es Salaam.

Great hotel. Staff made us feel very welcome. The upgraded room was spacious and it was a pleasure sleeping in a comfortable bed with lovely bedding. Food at breakfast was plentiful. Highly recommended.

It's not my first time at Serena, but the other times I couldn't use any of the amenities. This time I used the Gym, the sauna and enjoyed the overall atmosphere of this hotel, and the feeling is great. The rooms are not new, so shower and wc could be improved. But the room is huge, the service is excellent, like it is expected in a 5 starts. Small courtesy like preparing your room for the night, plenty of complementary water, very nice view to the garden and sea. The gym is excellent. Small details like having a smart TV that connects to our phone are also a plus. And they were very friendly to allow me a late check out considering I was taking a late flight, so it allow me to take a nice shower before leaving. The hotel is general is not a new style hotel, but you can feel the tradition and a mix of Arabic and África. There's a lot of people coming from outside to use the restaurant and that gives some extra life to the hotel. The other times I was not so impressed, this time I loved it. Thank you to all staff.

    As ladies, its best you dress like the natives to go to this market, I possible cover were a long dress like an abaya which covers you from head to toe. As we were constantly cat called and stared at to the point where the tension in the air felt unsafe the more we explored and decided to leave. Bearing in mine we were not showing a lot of skin, everyone was covered from neck to knee, yet the men and women stared as if were were africans and were aliens. and the cat calling from the men and attention was extremely off-putting.
