I highly recommend this hotel especially for those who prefer to travel independently without guides. Here you will not only be able to relax, but also will always be under the care and protection. The hotel staff will help you in any situation, no matter what time of day it is and no matter how far you are from the hotel. What else is important for me when choosing a hotel: quietness, comfortable bed, shower with normal water pressure and temperature, good breakfast. All of those I found in Rock Hyrax hotel. And even more. The hotel staff saved me when my car broke down in a remote area. And when I finally got to the hotel at about midnight, a warm dinner was waiting for me in my room. And they absolutely refused to include it in my bill. It was very touching. I felt as if I had come to my parents' house. Special thanks to Ms Mercy for her care and for hospitality!

One half day drive is all that is needed.

One half day drive is all that is needed. The park is lovely but was once even better until the waters rose and the algae that attracted the flamingo died. It is still worthy of a visit for the possible rhino and lions as well as a good array of many other animals. It is also less expensive than many other parks and accessible from the city of Nakuru itself so you don’t need to stay at an over priced park lodge. Try the very ‘African’ Waterbuck Hotel it’s a family owned friendly hotel with all the amenities you need.

Lovely property within Lake Nakuru National Park. Fantastic views from the room and from the communal areas. Good variety of food every day. We arranged game drives through hotel and was provided with a great driver we got to see both the black and white rhino (white rhino family including little one) which was sooo amazing
