SingaporeAbsolutely beautiful small property, feels intimate and Japanese (not anonymous). We stayed in the luxury corner suite and it was gorgeous. The in-room onsen was huge and such a wonderful treat to soak in. Views out to the greenery were cleverly framed. The lounge area was cosy and comfortable, with complimentary drinks offered in the afternoon.
The real icing on the cake was the quality of the meals. Every single meal, even the breakfasts, were exquisite and delicious and deserving of awards themselves. It was akin to staying in a luxurious boutique hotel with a Michelin star kaiseki restaurant at your doorstep.

SwitzerlandWe felt very relaxed and comfortable at the hotel. The en suite open air onsen and the public onsen were both wonderful. Many reviews talked about the dated facilities but we however felt it gave old-timer charm. The only drawback is that the location is a bit out of the town. Having said that the newly opened cafeteria provided dinner options which suited us fine. We will stay there again.

There isn't a picture of the second room (a bedroom with a queen sized comfy bed) on booking.com (negligence on the hotel's part) but I assure you there is one, and it's quite good. The space is old and a bit worn but charming and the staff is great. It's a hotel with a feeling of a hostel for older people as there is a lounge for watching TV where you can meet and chat with other visitors, and tables where they serve breakfast and dinner.
