Acropolis

Long before it became known as Bloomfield Falls, this magnificent waterfall was called Wujal Wujal by the indigenous Kuku Yalanji people. Hire a guide and learn why these people still consider Wujal Wujal to be sacred. Or just head down with your 4x4 and a picnic hamper, and have lunch in serious style!

Go before sunset to the 6-7.30pm time slot and watch the sun go down. September is the perfect month. Wear non slip shoes. You can buy e-tickets at the bottom. If you travel on the train, take the Acropolis station. Shorter walk from there. Take water with you. Take lots of photos. This attraction is one of our world’s wonders not to be missed!! There is also a small ceremony taking the flag down before closing time.

Very expensive for something that takes 5 mins to look around. Beautiful ancient building but a bit disappointed by the lack of the usual museum things: expositions, artefacts, hey even some shelter from the sun would be great.

From the moment I made the booking, staff were extremely helpful & assisted us with other parts of our trip. Staff were quick to respond with any questions we had. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and in a quiet location. It was accessible to all the main parts of Athens. The rooftop terrace with a spectacular view of the Acropolis was a bonus!! Will definitely book again. Thank you🙂

Such an interesting modern hotel in the best possible location in Plaka. Our suite was spacious practical and well designed. Mandy lived up to all the reviews with her bubbly personality and her input made our stay even more special. Make sure to use the rooftop with its special private views of the Acropolis and Athens.

The location of the hotel is perfect with a short walk to ancient ruins and the walk under the acropolis and beautiful old parts of Athens when the sun was setting. I had dinner in Plaka and was an easy walk back. In the morning it was easy to get coffee and breakfast immediately outside at a restaurant. It felt safe in the area walking around as a woman. I was given soap and shower gel/ shampoo in room to use in shared bathrooms.

Pretty well everything. Very clean, extra-comfortable bed, location to Psiri was a 5 minute walk. And the view of the Acropolis from the rooftop terrace was amazing. Especially at night. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here on my next trip to Athens.

Staying at Athens Tower is the right choice for me and my spouse. Going to the hotel from airport is fuss free, as the hotel is just stone throw away from metro station. The hotel is also centrally located with many attractions (including famed Acropolis of Athens and museums) all within walking distant. The hotel just beside the Monastiraki Square that provide numerous shopping and dining options. The hotel room is comfortable and clean, and the 24-hours receptionists are very kind and helpful.

We loved our stay in the Acropolis View Penthouse. Rita was so helpful and friendly. She greeted us on arrival and showed us around. She was very contactable and responded promptly. The apartment itself had beautiful balconies and the view from the pool was first rate! The apartment is an easy walk into central Athens and all of the sites.

Very close to lots of shops and restaurants with such great vibes. Its only a short walk away from all the site seeing attractions. The spa was a great bonus. The host was lovely to deal with and very helpful. I would absolutely book this apartment again if I am ever on Athens. 🤗

I had a great stay at Pangrati Spot. The location is excellent — a safe neighbourhood within walking distance of the Acropolis and museum. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and there are plenty of cafés and shops nearby. The host is very responsive and responsible, which made everything easy. It's a semi basement apartment but a good base for exploring Athens, I’d definitely return.

Couldn’t speak more highly of Evripides hotel. The room was perfect - recently renovated. Lovely bathroom, TV etc. The breakfast was fabulous. Terrace also great for sunset and view of acropolis hill. Neighbourhood is thriving with a number of trendy but well priced restaurants. Walking distance to most attractions. We were in Athens 4 nights and loved every minute here

Go beyond the Acropolis and explore the Agora and Kerameikos, imagining yourself entering Athens along the road from the port of Piraeus, and following the Panathenaic Way to the Akropolis. Stop at the museums along the way to understand the significance of each site. Then visit the National Archaeological Museum to see that classical Athens is just one of Greece's many magnificent cultures.

If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!

  • Consider visiting Athens in May or September.

Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
