We spent two unforgettable nights at Maroelani for our honeymoon, and everything was simply perfect. The staff is absolutely exceptional — Kim and Brandon went truly above and beyond anything we could have wished for. Their kindness, warmth, and attention to every little detail made our stay incredibly special. They made us feel at home in the middle of the bush! The chef deserves a standing ovation: every dish was both a work of art and a delight to taste — and we say this as Italians, who are usually quite picky about food! The table service was flawless, and we loved that each meal was served in a different location, beautifully arranged setting, making every moment unique. Our Riverside Suite was stunning — spacious, elegant, and perfectly immersed in nature, where we could watch animals passing by right from our terrace. Obviously no wifi. But it was nice be out of the world for a couple of day. It’s part of the experience.

Set in the bush, the canvas safari tents feature an en suite bathroom, seating area and the bed is draped with a mosquito net and linen is provided. All the tents boast a private terrace or viewing deck and certain units feature an outdoor shower or hot tub. Wow! Where do I start…. This place is AMAZING! Parsons Hilltop is comprised of 4 “tents” and a shared lodge, all I would describe as authentic luxury. The “tents”, whilst having canvas walls (your door is a zipper), have thatched roofs, super comfy double beds and a fully plumbed, tiled bathrooms (certainly like no tents I’ve been in before!!!) The views are stunning, and as an unfenced camp you do have some unexpected visitors, which makes the experience so authentic. The food is delicious and plentiful, and we experienced some SA specialities. As a solo traveler, I was lucky enough to be in camp with two other solo travelers, who have become friends! Two of the main reasons I had a wonderful time are Estalie (camp host) and Wiehahn (game drive guide)… what these two don’t know about the reserve isn’t worth knowing. They are two of the loveliest people I have ever met, and made my first Safari so very special! (Mirjam… protect these two at all costs!!!)

At the lodge guests are welcome to take advantage of a hot tub. Our stay at Lion Tree Top Lodge was an absolute dream. The lodge is located in a very quiet private game reserve, surrounded by pure nature and complete tranquillity. Sleeping in the beautifully designed tree houses was a truly unique experience – spotless, well-equipped and with a shower overlooking the lush greenery. The mosquito net and overall feeling of safety made the nights, even with the sounds of wildlife around us, absolutely comfortable. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the entire team was exceptionally friendly, attentive and helpful. You can really feel how much passion they put into everything. Breakfast was lovingly prepared each morning, and in the evening we enjoyed a delicious 3-course dinner by the campfire – such a special and intimate atmosphere. We had morning and afternoon game drives in the Manyeleti Game Reserve, and they were perfect in every way. The ranger made sure we experienced wildlife up close and in a respectful way – unforgettable moments! Early morning coffee served before the drives was such a thoughtful and caring touch. The lodge offers outstanding accommodation, a private and peaceful atmosphere, and a genuine connection to nature. Everything was spotless, well maintained and far beyond our expectations. We would come back anytime. Thank you for this wonderful time – it was simply perfect!

Guests can relax by the swimming pool, the TV lounge or the reading lounge, which offers views of the Limpopo River. The restaurant serves traditional South African cuisine and a sparkling wine breakfast buffet. We booked here on the spur of the moment, and it did not disappoint. Our favorite part of the night we spend here was the game drive and "bush bar" and the amazing dinner overlooking the lodge pool. The food is out of this world! Each dinner guest gets there own waiter and they are well trained and attentive. The room was luxurious, and the overall decor very tasteful. We loved all the "African" touches, sculptures, walkways and art. We are so glad we took a chance to visit and would do it again.
