It was an absolute pleasure staying at Yuki and Ken’s place. Everything was so well thought of and they were the kindest and most serviceminded people we’ve ever met. The home cooked and super fresh dinner was so yummy. The homemade plum wine is a must try so is the homemade jam for breakfast. Our room had the most amazing view over the mountain and the town and was newly renovated. Everything was made by Yuki San and Ken San themselves. And if they hadn’t made it the furnitures would have been on the family for long time. Did I mention the bed and duvet already - we had a perfect nights sleep.

This property offers access to a balcony and free private parking. The accommodation features a sauna, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. The location was perfect for getting away from the busy streets of Tokyo, though I highly recommend renting a (small!) car to get here, as it is tucked away from public trsnsportation routes. Our room was clean, surprisingly well equipped and comfortable. Service was spot on, communication with our host was easy and quick. We never saw any of the staff though, which made the quality of service just that much more impressive. We were the only guests staying here at the time, so we had all facilities to ourselves (an introvert's dream). There were plenty of instructions in english for all the general how-tos, check-in and check-out was easy using the machine. Prepare to face some bugs around the area, we had a few interesting encounters with moths by the entrance. The room itself was equipped with bugspray and deterrents, though we didn't need them as our room was perfectly wildlife free. The bug screen in the private onsen kept the bugs at bay, allowing us to bathe and sleep while enjoying the sounds and smells of the surrounding nature!

The accommodation offers 5-star accommodation with a hot tub. The Onsen in the middle of Nara was wonderful. After a long walk, was good to relax in the onsen at night which was always filled and ready. Location was amazing.

Fuji Speedway Hotel, in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt offers 5-star accommodation with an indoor pool, sauna and hot tub. The area is popular for hiking and cycling, and bike hire is available at the accommodation. Spacious room, with a nice view of Mt Fuji (lucky the weather was good). Food (both in room dining and breakfast) was well-prepared and tastes very nice, and the price was reasonable too. Staff are extremely friendly, professional and provided efficient service! Lastly, a great place to stay for car fans!!

Really loved the stay at Private House Takayama – it felt like a home away from home. The place was very clean and had a very well-equipped kitchen which made our stay particularly enjoyable as we were able to make our own meals. (There is also a washing machine and dryer). The location is very convenient with sights, food options and supermarkets within walking distance. The hosts were highly responsive and provided very clear and useful information to ensure a smooth stay, including guidance on parking. We look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Takayama.

Set 10 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Yumeguri no Yado Yoshiharu offers 5-star accommodation in Izunokuni and has a garden. Ideally located in the Izu Nagaoka Onsen district, this ryokan provides a terrace, as well as a hot tub. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Large place with different corridors which makes it feel a little mysterious. The dining room is very nice with a nice garden view. Food was excellent. Onsen was very good. All in all, nothing unique but a very very good ryokan.
