Rhino Retreat Clarens is based in the heart of Clarens, the jewel of the Free State SA. Situated a mere 950m from the vibe of the town centre but secluded enough to offer you a quiet retreat. With breath-taking views of Mount Horeb and the Maluti Mountains in Lesotho, you are bound to relax. Whilst we can accommodate up to 8 people, we welcome smaller groups too! The house is rented per day, irrespective of the size of the group (under 8). We have built an open plan home, so as a family unit, friends or just a couple, you can do stuff together. Whether it be cooking, braaiing' watching television with a warm fire going, or playing board games - you will always be together. The sleeping area is downstairs, so you have the privacy and seclusion if you don't want to visit with the rest of your party. It comprises of two bedrooms: Bedroom 1 = Queen size bed and full en-suite bathroom. Bedroom 2 = Two single beds and a Bunk bed and full en-suite bathroom. The lounge between the bedrooms has a comfy sleeper couch for 1-2 people and upstairs we have a guest toilet/basin. We have fans throughout the home to keep it cool in summer, and fire places inside in both lounges. Our deck leads off of the top living area from the kitchen. We do boast beautiful views, whilst you are sitting out there, braaiing or just merely taking in the fresh air and mountains. If you like fire-pits, then we think you will love ours. It is very unique and as with the rest of our home, it tells a story. So many memories can be made down there. Our property is pet friendly, HOWEVER, we do expect the guest to advise us if we are welcoming fur babies. Please do not just assume we would know.

Duncan and I have always had a passion for the outdoors, fresh air and beautiful mountains. We chose Clarens to build our holiday home so we could share this with our guests. Not only does Clarens offer the perfect holiday retreat as it offers many activities in and around the town, but it also offers you peace and tranquillity too. We are also dog mad, so love hosting families who can bring their fur babies with and have them explore the massive, enclosed yard. Clarens is quite centrally situated too, not far from Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Harrismith and KZN, and I personally loved it from the moment I visited it for the first time in 2016 because it reminded me of my hometown, Queenstown in the EC.

There too many fabulous restaurants and shops to list, as well as several art galleries, gin tasting, craft beer and plenty of activities including golf, hiking, hot air ballooning, extreme sports (paint ball, quad biking, mini golf, zip-lining, white water rafting, abseiling), wine tasting on a wine farm, cherry farms, cheese tasting, horse riding and much, much more! The Clarens Conservancy is absolutely amazing to go for long or short walks/hikes - mostly pet friendly. Breath-taking views and water-falls as well as Golden Gate Nature Reserve, which is situated 10km outside of Clarens. The rock formations in and around Clarens are truly mesmerizing.
