Ocean View House has remained true to its origins and is still run as a family business, welcoming each and every guest as the newest member of the Ocean View House family. Our founder’s love affair with the Cape began, as many great relationships do, from afar. He sailed around the most beautiful coast in the world in 1974 and although he never set foot on land, he knew he had to return. Which he did, twenty years later, when South Africa was on the brink of a new future, he returned and built Ocean View House. In 2005, his daughter Katrin came aboard and continued the family tradition. Since then, Ocean View has expanded to 30 rooms and continues to offer guests a unique and personal holiday experience.. Having first visited in 1997 as a young student from Germany, Katrin found herself studying Hotel Management at Cape Technikon. After qualifying she gained experience in the hospitality industry before returning to Ocean View House and taking over as the General Manager. Ocean View House continues to be a family business with Katrin’s husband Lambert, who is renowned as the “Master of the Braai”, overseeing all building and renovations at Ocean View House.

The property is 1km from the Camps Bay restaurant strip, Theatre on the Bay and Camps Bay Beach, and is conveniently located 3km from Table Mountain and Lion's Head, 8km from the V&A Waterfront, and at the start of the scenic Cape Peninsula route to the Cape of Good Hope.

Please note Ocean View House has water features which might pose a hazard to unattended children. An airport shuttle can be arranged at the front desk between 07:00 and 19:00. Extra charges apply depending on the time of departure/arrival.

Ocean View House is located on a slope and has a number of staircases which may be uncomfortable for frail or injured guests. Please contact the property beforehand to allocate a comfortably located room for your stay.

Please note guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. The credit card holder needs to be present and the credit card must match the one used to guarantee the booking.

We reserve the right not to refund transaction costs on card payments in the case of cancellations

Please note that there is noise from ongoing Construction work on a neighboring property since November 2025 and this might impact the stay of the guests who book "Traveller King or Twin Room with Mountain View." No constructions on Saturdays and Sundays, and Builders holidays from 16.December 2025 - Mid January 2026.
