OUR HISTORY
Our property served as the Visitation Roman Catholic Church monastery from 1922 to 1970. In 1970 Michael Ubaldini, a parishioner who worked as an accountant for the church, learned that Visitation was being sold. He and his wife, Josephine, who were looking for a new home for their 10 children purchased the property. For the next 40 years, our site served as a private residence to a large, local, Italian family.
In 2010, stewardship was transfer to Linda and Nika - a local mother and daughter team. Before the recurrence of home sharing popularized, Linda and Nika’s had the idea of repackaging and reintroducing the ancient concept of a rooming house for travelers in the United States. They search for a property of architectural interest that had never been turned into “units” like much of the local real estate had been. They wanted the site to organically lend itself for use as a lodging house for travelers. From there, the Visitation Monastery and the former Ubaldini residence became known as the Moreland Guesthouse - one of the first premium communal lodging spaces for travelers in 21st century America.
