Come stay in this lovely 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home on a large lot in the gorgeous Sierra Nevada foothills. We are situated 12 miles from Mariposa town proper, and close enough to Oakhurst that you have options for entering Yosemite or finding a nice place to eat. Close enough to the highway for quick access, while remote enough to feel private, this is a vacation gem. The home itself is on three acres with beautiful Pine, Oak and Manzanita, not to mention the amazing moss-covered boulders.
Since your comfort while you sleep is a top priority for us, all beds are outfitted with 100% Egyptian cotton sheets, cotton blankets, and organic cotton duvet covers.
Our kitchen is fully equipped and has plenty of counter space. We have done our best to equip it with all the essentials. It is a great place to make a quick breakfast on the go or a slow-paced, delicious family meal. Adjacent to the kitchen is a small area with a coffee station where we love to sit with a quiet cup of coffee and enjoy the morning and the pretty view.
KIDS:
Since we have kids of our own, we have done our best to make our place kid-friendly so that other families can enjoy it as well. That being said, if you have very little ones, please note that the bunk beds are designed for only ages 6 and up to be on the top bunk, and some of the toys available may be choking hazards for very small children. Feel free to put toys and games out of reach that you wouldn't want your children to access. We do have a high chair available in the entry-closet (some assembly required) if needed. We can't provide a travel crib at this time.
PETS:
We do allow up to two well-behaved dogs, with prior approval. We do not allow dogs in the house, but depending on the dog may allow them to stay in the garage as long as they are watched or crated.
Our neighbor has a dog-boarding business, for which we can provide contact information (in case you need to leave your dog for longer periods).
I am a Mariposa native, now raising a family on the Central Coast of California. I love coming back to my hometown and giving my children the chance to experience the natural beauty and wonder that Mariposa has to offer. Coupling this love of Mariposa with my personal hobby of interior design has allowed me to pour my heart into making a space in which I hope all my guests will appreciate and feel welcomed.
Pizza Factory is loved by all the locals, and I'm sure you will love it, too. Make sure to visit the one in Mariposa (it is the best!).
The Mariposa Museum and History Center has always astonished me at how much interesting artifacts it has for such a small space!
If you get a chance, the Mariposa Mining and Mineral Museum at the fairgrounds is also really worth a visit. I enjoy it every time.
A trip to Mariposa is not complete without visiting Chocolate Soup, my all-time favorite downtown shop! It is well beloved by locals and tourists alike.
Be sure to look for seasonal events, such as the Christmas Parade, the Butterfly Festival, and the local County Fair. Mariposa may be small, but the people here are some of the best at welcoming visitors and making you feel like one of them.
