Relax and put your feet up, unwind at our retreat in the serenity of the Catlins. Our historic villa is in the heart of Owaka, cafes and shops are 2 minutes walk away and it's only a short drive to beaches, bush walks, waterfalls and the many attractions the Catlins has to offer. Each spacious villa guest room has a queen and single bed, a private en-suite bathroom, and a fridge, table and chairs and tea and coffee. A delicious continental breakfast is available as an optional extra. This historic building was built by the community to attract a doctor to the area about 100 years ago. The result is a beautiful character villa in central Owaka. Guests will stay in the 2 grandest rooms at the front of the house. There is plenty of free parking on the street just outside.

Owaka is a small rural town with a warm welcome and everything you need. Situated on the Southern Scenic Route it is the perfect place to explore the Catlins, between Invercargill and Balclutha. There is a 4 Square shop, garage, pub, cafe's, second hand book shop, gift shops, health shop, museum and information centre, all within a short walk of the Catlins Retreat. The Catlins is famous for stunning scenery and wildlife. The beach at Pounawea is only a 5 minute drive where you can find a river/estuary area suitable for boating/fishing and water sports, and the local golf course. The more rugged Surat bay is only 3 km further, where you can go horse riding, see sea lions and walk around to Cannibal Bay. Within a 30 minute drive of Owaka is a wide range of bush walks, beach walks, waterfalls and wildlife.
