Ahu is a 1930s character original bach on a volcanic ridge sitting 1000ft above Piha. Expansive panoramic views extend all the way up the west coast and out to the blue Tasman Sea. Ahu is the perfect private retreat for individuals or couples who enjoy the outdoors, being right on the world famous Hillary Trail. Check the surf from the window. Savour long sunsets with a glass of wine and stroll to Mercer Bay to see the sun drop into the sea. End the day with a gourmet dinner!
Lifeguard at Karekare beach, surfer, board shaper, artist, waterman. Enjoys exploring the South Pacific and the Isles of NZ, surfing, sup, snorkel... adventure trails Happy to help you get the most out of your visits, there are always little gems to find and see. Work hard, Play Harder!. I sometimes reside and work on site in a roadfront surfboard-shaping studio. I am available to answer questions and provide guidance on beach safety, surf and fishing spots, bush hiking and can lead both surf trips and hiking. Ahu is set in a scenic bush and beach destination, situated in a cul de sac leading to a historic maori pa site and scenic view points. Piha has no petrol station and no ATM machine so plan ahead for your trip and come with a full tank of petrol and plenty of cash. Local businesses accept eftpos and creditcards No public transport available.
