Casa Cereza del Rio sits on the Rio Horcones next to the sea in a tiny authentic Mexican fishing village 10 miles south of Puerto Vallarta. A perfect location, easily accessible with 3 apartments, each having its own personality, fully equipped kitchens and private baths. Spacious patios provide a garden and river, a barbeque area, workout area, outdoor furniture, cozy couches, books, art, fans and cultural Mexican artifacts. All 3 apartments have wifi, fully equipped kitchen complete with the essentials such as salt and pepper, herbs, various oils and vinegars, sugar, coffee and tea. A laundry room provides soap, open all hours, the gate is locked at night (every guest has a key). surrounded by bougainvillea, the garden sits directly on the river. Our house is close to shopping, beaches, water taxis, and hiking to get to those beaches to the south accessible only by boat or on foot. We wanted Casa Cereza to be a place people where people can feel relaxed, to be adventurous, a place to experience something new and special. Be aware that along with a Mexican village comes the sound of dogs and chickens, if you are a light sleeper this may be a problem for you.
Originally from San Diego, My husband and I enjoy hosting and meeting new people. We want guests to feel welcome, join us for a cappuccino or latte in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. We want you to enjoy the patios, entertain friends if you like, cook out on the barbeque, ask questions. We can arrange tours, set you up with guides and offer advice about prices, culture, places to eat and recommendations. We love animals and have a rescue doggie named Latte, yeah, she rescued us. We've lived here now for 8 years and we know the people and the town and we love to share it. I like to paint, read, kayak, swim, snorkel and hike as does Nick. We love our house and this town and we are always so happy to see people "decompress" and experience this amazing place.
Boca de Tomatlan is an authentic little Mexican village, a real working town, a hub for water transportation to access the beaches to the south, such as Las Animas, Quimixto, Yelapa, accessible only by boat on on foot, a hike to las Animas is about an 1 1/2 hours and takes you through jungle and past white sand beaches, restaurants, resorts and margaritas. We have everything you need, small grocery stores, liquor store, restaurants, taco stands and fresh fish is sold every morning on the beach, fresh from the sea. A walk along the malecon in the morning will take you past fisherman preparing for the day on the ocean, others loading boats to take supplies to the south, water taxis come and go all day, the restaurants are opening and the breeze shoots down the canyon over the bubbling water of the river, mountains, green and lush tower overhead, the birds are chattering, you might see an iquana basking in the sun or a great black gorobo (lizard) chewing on some tender plants. The river Horcones is a natural river, ever changing on its course to the sea, crystal clear during winter months, silty and wild during rainy season, host to a wild array of wildlife that call this area home.
