Radicofani: A Jewel of the Val d'Orcia
Radicofani, perched on a hill at 814 meters above sea level, is one of the most fascinating villages in the Val d'Orcia, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its ancient walls, stone streets and the famous Rocca that dominates the landscape, the village offers an atmosphere steeped in history and authenticity.
The Rocca di Radicofani, the symbol of the village, is an imposing medieval fortress dating back to the 9th century. From its summit you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Val d'Orcia and the Tuscan hills. It is the perfect place to discover the stories of the legendary Ghino di Tacco, the Italian "Robin Hood", who made Radicofani his stronghold.
The village boasts an artistic and cultural heritage of great importance. The Church of San Pietro and the Church of Sant'Agata house unexpected works of art, including terracotta sculptures and paintings from the Sienese school. The streets of the historic center offer picturesque views and a dive into the rural life of the past.
Radicofani is also an important stop along the Via Francigena, the famous medieval path that still attracts pilgrims and travelers from all over the world.
The local cuisine is another feather in the cap: from handmade pici to pecorino cheeses, passing through the Orcia DOC wine, here the Tuscan taste is expressed in all its authenticity.
Perfect for those seeking tranquility, nature and culture, Radicofani is the ideal starting point for exploring the Val d'Orcia, with its spas, villages such as Pienza and Bagno Vignoni, and postcard landscapes. An authentic experience in the heart of Tuscany!
