This house is originally built in 1898 with an addition and renovation in 1941. Obviously allot of refurbishment in recent times, including floor heating and a fire escape window. This small basement apartment is basically the room, but the bathroom is attached (ensuite). The kitchen is separated and entered from a common hall. The laundry room is also entered from the same hallway. From the street you enter through the gate into the garden and immediately on your left you have 5 steps down to the front door. You will then enter a small common hallway with several doors. The door at the end of the hallway is to your room. You might find it convenient that the kitchen is not part of the room so any cooking smell will not bother you. Also, if you do laundry it is not in the same space as where you sleep. We have another apartment on the top floor and these guests also have access to the same laundry room and machines. This happens only occasionally. The kitchen is only used by you. But it is small if you prefer to be private and close the kitchen door. My cleaning crew use the laundry room mostly in the middle of the day. You might need to put laundry to the side if the machines have not been emptied. The geothermal heating for the building is in the laundry room and laundry dries very quickly in the extra heat.

For the most part I am retired but I am very active in social dancing, like Bachata and Salsa. I live on the premise in a small house in the garden. I have a girlfriend that visits and helps with the housework but she lives separately with her children. My education and profession was staging theater and teaching. I also handle maintenance of the building.

This is the original shopping street in Reykjavik. Our house was originally owned and lived in by the store owners. Now in the building there is a piercing and tattoo store, before that a goldsmith and before that Christal glass items. What you will love the most is the central location while still quiet since facing the garden. You might want to enjoy breakfast at Sandholt bakery café - they are and artisan bakery and much more. It would be too long a list to name all the fabulous restaurants on the street.
