Hi, we're Rick and Annie. We have 3 kids, all at uni, and live with our 2 friendly dogs and a number of chickens.
We live in the heart of the beautiful Somerset village of Mells, just outside Frome. We're perfectly located right in the centre of the village but with open, south facing views across our 3 acre Walnut orchard.
Mells is one of the finest villages in England. Its medieval streets and architecture date back many hundreds of years and it has a long history of attracting visitors from around the world including writers and artists such as JM Barrie, LP Hartley, Hilaire Belloc, Alfred Munnings, Eric Gill, Edwin Lutyens, William Nicholson and Edward Burne-Jones. The First World War poet Siegfried Sassoon is buried in the churchyard. Evelyn Waugh was a regular visitor and started writing Scoop whilst renting a cottage in the village. King Charles I stayed in Mells in July 1644.
We are literally just 50 yards away from the award-winning Mells Village Shop, Post Office and Cafe and just a couple of minute's walk from the fantastic Talbot Inn serving locals ales and delicious meals. There is also a beautiful Walled Garden in the village (with its own cafe) along with an historic Tithe Barn.
The Mells Stream runs through the centre of the village, past our house to the village pond. There are fabulous walks and footpaths around the village.
Frome is only a 10 minute drive away. Bath, Stonehenge, Bristol and Glastonbury are all 30-60 minutes by car.
