「La ubicación de la casa es muy céntrica. Es una casa muy cómoda y cercana a la playa.」
We bought our house in Leucate in 2008 as a family holiday home. We chose it because it had a lovely feel to it, We love its original unspoiled interior with the winding staircase and the terracotta tiles in the bedrooms. The first floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower WC. The second floor has a spacious room with sofa, armchairs, beds and a recently built en-suite bathroom with shower and WC. The terrace is also on 2nd floor. The street is friendly and calm, yet very central to everything.
We are a French/British couple and live in the foothills of the Pyrenees. My husband is a sculptor. We have four grown-up children and eight grandchildren. We love the outdoors and the good simple pleasures of Life .
Train: nearest station is Leucate-La Franqui (4km.) There is a shuttle service with timetables that vary according to the season between the station and the village centre.
There is also a shuttle service from the village to the beach (2km)

The area around Leucate is well known for its wine and there are many vineyards and 'caves' for wine tasting. There are also oyster parks close by where one can enjoy platters of oysters with the locals for a fraction of the cost! The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking or cycling. There are cliffs and inlets, and a very long sandy and uncrowded beach nearby. The area is well-known for its windsurfing and kite-surfing. Bike hire is possible and easy to arrange. The Aude region has much history to explore including the mountain-top Cathar castles and the mediaeval walled city of Carcassonne, only 45 minutes away. The snow-capped Pyrennees can be reached by car in less than an hour's drive.
