Strandhugget BnB is a passion project for Tea and Henry Johansson. Henry has his roots on the island, and over the years Tea has fallen in love with Sottunga and its people. “We think that Sottunga is something that you just need to experience for yourself. Words are not enough to explain how special it is.” Strandhugget has been closed down for few years. It will be re-opened for summer 2024 to give an opportunity for visitors to stay over and enjoy our beautiful island.

Strandhugget BnB offers accommodation services next to the Sottunga harbour. The property consists of the main building and three small cottages. In the main building there are 3 rooms for 2-3 persons. All rooms are located upstairs. The breakfast room is also in the same building, along with a toilet. We also have 3 small cottages in the yard. Our total capacity is 18 beds. Strandhugget has been inactive for a few years but during the spring of 2024 we are going to refurbish rooms, showers, toilets, etc. The showers are located in a separate building in the yard. We will add room pictures during spring 2024 as our renovation of rooms gets done. Our prices always include breakfast, bedlinen, towels and shower gel. A great BnB of course serves a great breakfast. Our breakfast buffet consists of selected seasonal, local ingredients, homemade bread, slow-cooked porridge and coffee or tea. As we are on an island with limited supply of ingredients, we need to be informed about all dietary recrtrictions in advance in order to be able to serve our guests in the best way possible.

Arrival to Sottunga is always by ferry unless you have a boat of your own. You can arrive to our island from two different directions. If you arrive from the mainland Åland direction, you will need to get to Långnäs first. There is a ferry connection from Långnäs which takes about an hour and 15 minutes to Sottunga. From the direction of mainland Finland you will need to drive to Galtby in Korppoo from where it takes about 4-5 hours by ferry to Sottunga, depending on date and departure time. It takes about 30 minutes by car from Mariehamn to Långnäs and about 3,5 hours by car from Helsinki to Galtby. Ferries are free of charge for passangers unless you have a car. The easiest way to book ferry tickets is to call Ålandstrafiken customer service at. You can also ask us for advice. It can be a bit tricky to find the right connections to get to Sottunga when you arrange it for the first time. Shops Sottunga Andelshandel is located 3 km from Strandhugget. There are free of charge bicycles on the island that are perfect for shopping. There is a good selection of items in the store. To eat Restaurant Salteriet is located less than 100m from Strandhugget. Salteriet is widely know for their great food, service and the location has to be one of the most beautiful spots in Åland.
